Sports Report for Friday, 10-13-2017

PC Notes:

  • PC host Charleston Southern… The Blue Hose football team is coming off a 24-16 over Saint Francis last Saturday that evened their season record at 3-3 and will open Big South play tomorrow at Bailey Memorial Stadium in a noon contest… Charleston Southern comes in with a 2-3 season record and this will be their first contest in conference play also… Now for more details and background on the contest, click here.

Local Notes:

  • Tennis: Woodruff 5 – Clinton 1… We need to do a little catching up with the Lady Red Devil tennis team which hosted the Lady Wolverines of Woodruff HS on Wednesday… I wish I had better news but I must report that the Wolverines took a 5-1 win… Elizabeth Jones took the only win for the Red Devils as she defeated her opponent in the #1 singles match… For more information on this match, click here… The Red Devils finish the claiming third place in the region and will move on to the playoffs starting next Wednesday, October 18th against an opponent yet to be determined.
  • JV FB: Clinton 32 or (34) – Newberry 0… The Red Devil JV football team boarded the bus last night and traveled down to Newberry to take on the Bulldogs… I have a sneaky feeling that the ride back seemed a little shorter than the one going down as the Red Devils took either a 32-0 or 34-0 win over the Bulldogs (the 2 coaches who gave me the score had different scores for Clinton)… Shy Kinard, Zay Cook and Kimon Quarles all had TDs for the Red Devils..  The win evened the team’s record at 4-4 on the season.

  • JV FB: Laurens 38 – Riverside 0… The Raider 9th grade team was scheduled to play Westside on Wednesday night but as announced earlier in the week Westside disbanded their 9th grade team… Last night elements of both the JV and 9th grade team combined to take the field against Riverside up in Greenville…. Now I don’t really have any details on the game other than the score and that really is the most important one in that I can tell you that the Raiders took a 38-0 win over the Warriors.
