5 Charged Possession of Crystal Meth with Intent

Five people were accused of possessing crystal methamphetamine in Clinton with intent to distribute last Friday.

They included 28-year-old Joshua Daniel Dobbins of 103 Columbia Avenue, Greenwood, who was also charged with Giving False Information to Law Enforcement, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and 1st Offense, Simple Possession of Marijuana.

Warrants showing Clinton Lt. Cathy Anderson as the prosecuting officer state that on October 20th Dobbins had Crystal Methamphetamine in his possession that weighed approximately 1.36 grams, this amount being prima facie evidence of intent to distribute. Four co-defendants were cited.

Joshua Dobbins was also accused of having in his possession a set of electronic scales with meth residue and a large amount of zip-lock baggies used to package illegal narcotics.

He is further accused of giving another person’s name and birthday in an attempt to evade arrest, and was accused of being in possession of less than 28 grams of marijuana, noted as a first offense.

With cash or surety bonds set totaling $11,250, Joshua Daniel Dobbins remained in the Laurens County Detention Center this morning. He was also being held for the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.

All four co-defendants were also charged with Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. These included 27-year-old Walter Alan Grover of 1808 Highway 72, Greenwood, 18-year-old Robert Wade Black of 1282 Stevenson Road, Greenwood and 26-year-old Rebecca Nicole Wilkie of 1808 Highway 72, Clinton. Grover, Black and Wilkie were released Saturday on personal recognizance bonds totaling $5,500 on their two charges.

Thomas Jay Ruger of 11 Evans Street, Rembert, South Carolina had a third charge of Unlawful Transport of Alcohol. He was released Saturday on personal recognizance bonds totaling $5,800.
