College Notes:

  • FBS AP Football Poll… Well there was very little shakeup in the FBS Football AP Poll this week and the top 5 remain the same… Alabama is still #1 with Penn State, Georgia, TCU and Wisconsin rounding out the top 5… Spots 6-8 are also the same and are held by Ohio State, Clemson and Miami (Fl)… Notre Dame moved up from 13 to 9 and Oklahoma dropped from 9 to 10… To see the entire top 25, click here.
  • FCS Coaches Poll… Meanwhile over in the FCS Coaches poll the top 3 remain the same this week and they are James Madison, North Dakota State and Jacksonville State… Now below the top three there was some shakeup and most notably to fans in our area is that Wofford dropped from #5 to #10 after their loss to Samford last Saturday… Samford jumped from 14 into a tie for 8th also… Other schools in the area that made the top 25 are Elon at #11 and Western Carolina at #20… To see the entire poll, click here.

Pros:

  • World Series Game 1: LA 3 – Astros 1… Well if you went out for a nice leisurely supper last night just before game 1 of the World Series started, you might have been surprised to come home and find the game over because it took just 2:28 for the Dodgers to defeat the Astros 3-1 out in LA and that is the quickest series game since sometime back in the 90’s…  It was a pitching duel between 2 former Cy Young winners Houston’s Dallas Keuchel and the Astros Clayton Kershaw… Kershaw’s first pitch to the Dodgers in the bottom of the first was belted out of the park by Chris Taylor… The Astros tied the game on a solo homer in the 4th inning by Alex Bergman and then the Dodgers Justin Turner had a 2-run homer in the 6th inning to give the Dodgers all the runs they would need as their bullpen shut down the Astros after Kershaw left the game after 7 innings…. For more details on the game, click here… game 2 is in LA tonight starting at 8 pm ET and can be seen on Fox.
