College Notes:

Football

  • FBS AP Poll… Well after both #2 Georgia and #3 Notre Dame lost last weekend you knew there would be some shakeup ij the top 10 of the AP Poll and there was… Alabama remains at the top spot but #4 Clemson did not move up to #2… Instead last week’s #7 Miami (FL) who defeated Notre Dame moved up to #2 and last week’s #5 Oklahoma jumped ahead of Clemson to #3… Wisconsin did move up a notch from #6 to #5… Spots 6-10 are occupied by Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State… To see the entire top 25 in the AP Poll, click here
  • FBS Football Playoff… Now the committee that makes the matchups for the FBS playoff at the end of the year sees things a little differently…. As you may recall they had Alabama #2 last week well they move up a notch to #1 with Georgia’s loss… Last week Clemson was #4 and instead of moving other teams ahead of them like the AP Poll did, they now have Clemson at #2… Miami (FL) jumps from #7 to #3 and Oklahoma moves up from #5 to #4… Wisconsin, Auburn, Georgia and Notre Dame are in the next 4 spots…. To see the entire top 25 in the College Football Playoff rankings, click here.
  • FCS Coaches Poll… There was very little change in the top 10 of the FCS Coaches Poll and undefeated James Madison continues to hold down the top spot… Wofford is now tied with North Carolina A&T for #7… Samford moved up a spot to #13, Elon dropped from #9 to #15 and Furman cracked the top 25 for the first time this season coming in at #24… To see the entire top 25 in the FCS Coaches Poll, click here.

Pros:

NASCAR

  • Last Week’s Results… The Monster Energy Series held their next to the last race last Sunday out in Phoenix and an old fan favorite Matt Kenseth picked up his 39th career win… Chase Elliot was second, Martin Truex Jr. third, Erik Jones fourth and Kevin Harvick fifth… To see the entire race results, click here.
  • This Week… This Sunday at 3:00 pm the final race of the season will take place down at the Homestead-Miami Track in Florida… After last week’s race at Phoenix, the field of 8 in the hunt for the Monster Energy Cup Championship was narrowed down to 4…  There will be a new champion this year because Jimmie Johnson last year’s winner is not among the four finalists who are Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, martin Truex, Jr. and Brad Keselowski… Will be interesting to see which one of those four finishes ahead of the other there and if the other drivers try to play “spoiler” during the race… NBC will carry the race Sunday.
