More Church Safety Brings Challenges

The recent Texas Church Shooting has caused a lot of churches around the country to consider what additional safety steps need to be taken. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is offering specialized training for select members of local churches that’s scheduled for December 9th.

Harold McClintock of Certified Security Systems told WLBG the tragedy has more people concerned about safety.  “We’ve always had interest in closed circuit television at churches. We’ve had that. But we’ve had an increase since the shooting in Texas.”

McClintock said even churches that have already had some security measures installed are looking for more solutions. “Some of the things they’re wanting to do, from our industry, is an uncharted area.”

He said security companies have always protected schools, but churches are a little different entity. “There’s a lot of solutions out there, but the whole industry is learning how people are wanting to protect churches.”
