Running At & From Police

Laurens Police charged a Connecticut man Friday with attempting to run over a Police officer Thursday. 33-year-old Kyle Mitchell of 380 North Granby Road, North Granby, Connecticut was charged with Assault and Battery 1st Degree, Failure to Stop for a Blue Light and Resisting Arrest.

Warrants citing an investigation of Officer Van Pelt state that on North Harper Street on November 30th the defendant failed to stop for a blue light by accelerating in speed and turning across in an attempt to evade contact with law enforcement after being signaled by a law enforcement vehicle.

Mitchell allegedly accelerated his vehicle and attempted to strike a Laurens Police Officer, which could have resulted in great bodily injury or death, had the officer not been able to evade the strike.

Following a traffic stop on North Harper, Mr. Mitchell reportedly fled on foot from Officers Van Pelt and Napier, who told him to stop.

Cash or surety bonds were set totaling $12,500 on the three charges. Kyle Mitchell remained in custody this morning.
