The Smell Lasts a Long Time!

A vehicle on North Harper Street Monday evening was reportedly observed switching lanes several times without using proper traffic signals.

An odor of marijuana was detected, and the driver exhibited extreme nervousness. The occupants of the vehicle voluntarily advised officers that they did have a history with law enforcement regarding possessing illegal drugs and gave officers consent to search the vehicle. A search, however, found no evidence of unlawful contraband. Officers did detect the driver’s license of the driver was suspended. He was issued a citation for 1st Offense Driving under Suspension along with a warning for the changing lanes without signaling. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The passenger in the vehicle, complained of stomach pains, but refused EMS; so police provided a courtesy escort from the incident scene to GHS Laurens County Memorial Hospital.
