Award Winning Financial Records

Even with necessary things like financial reporting there’s the right way, the wrong way and the award-winning way.  The city of Clinton has been conducting its financial reporting the award-winning way according to Sheryl Medders of the McKinley Cooper accounting firm.

During her presentation of the audit on Monday, Ms. Medders pointed out that for the 29th time the city has earned a Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association.  According to the organization’s web site, this award was established in 1945 to “encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize governments that succeed in achieving that goal”.

Clinton’s Interim City Manager Dale Satterfield congratulated the city’s Chief Financial Officer Renee Morrow and the rest of the team that assisted in providing all data requested by the auditors.
