Laurens County Touchdown Club Awards Banquet… Last night the Laurens County TD Club held its Annual Awards Banquet out at The Ridge, the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Headquarters… The All-County Team, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year were named and the guest speaker was Danny Morrison former President of the Carolina Panthers… Looking at the awards handed out last night:

LDHS

  • Girls JV basketballSpartanburg 46 – Laurens 13… Catching up on a JV Girls basketball score from Monday that I just received the score on yesterday, the Spartanburg Vikings took a 43-13 win over the Raiders… The Vikings jumped out to a 17-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and were never really threatened after that… Jakayla Young led the raiders with 6 points… By the way, the Raider JV teams host the Clinton red Devils tonight starting at 6 pm.

Middle School Basketball

Monday (12-4) LMS at McCormick… Also catching up with LMS basketball games on Monday that I just received the scores to yesterday

  • G: McCormick 28 – LMS 22… McCormick led 11-8 at the half and the Tigers tried to catch up in the second half but came up short…. Scoring for the Tigers: Angel Johnson- 10 pts, Samaurai William- 6 pts, Nya Anderson- 3 pts, Nadia Anderson- 2 pts, & Johndelyn Grant- 1 pts… Season Record: 1-2
  • B: McCormick 32 – LMS 27… McCormick used a strong first half to take a 21-15 lead at the half and them went on to defeat LMS 32-27… Scoring for LMS: Devon Redd: 11 pts, Isaiah Craig: 7 pts, Waldrick Burnside: 4 pts, Jay Pulley: 4 pts & Dorian Gibson: 1 pt…Season Record: 2-1

Monday (12-4) Sanders at Wright MS

  • G: Wright 35 – Sanders 8… Sanders girls had a lot of turnovers in the first half, which Wright capitalized on as Wright led 22-0 at the half… Sanders got on the board in the second half as they fell to Wright by a score of 35-8… For coach’s comments and more information, click here
  • B: Wright 57 – Sanders 26…. Now the news was not much better in boys action as Wright took a 57-26 win… For coach’s comments and more information, click here.

 

CHS Holding Fundraise for Laurens County Cancer Association Tomorrow at Raider vs. Red Devil Basketball Games.

  • Tomorrow night when the Raiders travel to Clinton for Round 2 of the County Championships they will be doing fund raising for the Laurens County Cancer Association and the Raider fans are asked to participate… They will be passing around containers asking the Clinton and Laurens fans to donate in a friendly competition to see which fans can raise the most… Monies raised will go to the association and they will be doing other special things including a 50-50 drawing… They will also be recognizing some cancer survivors in the area and they are requesting that fans wear pink so they can have a PINK OUT. ..

  • 18th Annual Laurens Family YMCA Rein Deer Run… The 18th Annual Laurens Family YMCA Rein Deer Run is coming up on Saturday, December 9th… A few things have changed for this year and I want to make sure you are all aware of it… If you click here, you will open a flyer that has registration information, registration fee, sponsor levels and other information including the fact that you need to register by November 17th to avoid late registration fees… You will notice, a parent can complete a registration form AND register his/her children for the fun run on the same form… Also there are discounts for teams… New this year will be inflatables for those children that register for the fun run, a Dress like a Reindeer Costume Contest and a drop box to benefit the Toy Drive for the Laurens City Police….   • Breakfast with Santa… The Laurens family YMCA is also having Breakfast with Santa again this year on Saturday, December 16th… The tickets for this event will again be $5 and everyone entering MUST have a ticket… This covers the cost of breakfast, photo with Santa and lots of games, crafts and activities… Tickets will go sale at the front desk of the YMCA on November 1st… New This Year will be a Merry Market… They will have several small businesses set up “markets” for last minute Christmas gift purchasing… If you or someone you know that may be interested in participating in the Merry Market, please have them contact the YMCA at 984-2626… That is the number to call for more information about the event in total or click here to open up a flyer about the event.
  • Youth Basketball in Laurens… Youth basketball registration through the City of Laurens and the Laurens Family YMCA is now open… If your child is ages 3-6 or 13-15 they will register at the Laurens YMCA and they must do so by 1-2-2017… If you child is ages 7-12 they would have registered at the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation offices located at The Ridge… Registration for these ages closed Dec. 1, 2017… The fee at either facility is $40 per child… Specific information for each league will be given out at the time of registration… If you have any questions you call the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation office at 681-7275 of the Laurens YMCA at 984-2626.
  • Youth Basketball and Cheer at Clinton YMCA… The Clinton Family YMCA is offering open registration for ‘Youth Basketball’ and Cheerleading for six (6) playing divisions and Cheer through the December 12th registration deadline….
