Assault on Police

Charges of assaulting Laurens Police Officers last Friday were served on a man Saturday. Laurens City Police charged 32-year-old Terrence Jerrell Williams of 1220 Bull Hill Road, Gray Court with Resisting & Assault, Injury to an Officer as well as three firearms violations. He’s accused of Possessing a Stolen Pistol, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol and with Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Officer Gallo states that while answering a call for service Friday at 529 Church Street, Mr. Williams was found to be in possession of a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol, and that his criminal history indicates he is not permitted to possess a firearm. A second warrant notes that the pistol was otherwise unlawfully being carried. A third warrant states that the pistol was stolen. A 4th warrant charges Mr. Williams with Assault on an Officer. It states that Mr. Williams resisted numerous officers Friday during the service of a Mental Health Evaluation at the Laurens Police Office at 250 West Laurens Street, and that this caused minor injury.

A Municipal Court Judge Saturday set cash or surety bonds on the five charges totaling $125,000. Terrence Jerrell Williams remained in the Laurens County Detention Center this morning.
