  • Crusaders Participate in SCISA-GISA All-Star Game…. This past Saturday members of the Crusader basketball teams and Coach Jason Marlett picked up big post-season honors as they participated in the SCISA-GISA Class A-AA All-Star Games… These are games that pit some of the best basketball players from independent schools in South Carolina against their counter parts from Georgia in games held in Augusta… Coach Marlett was the coach of the girls’ team and Taylor Campbell was a member of the South Carolina squad… The girls’ team lost to Georgia 103-86… Campbell played about half the game and had 3 points, 6 assist, 2 steals and 6 deflections against some of the best talent from Georgia… Joshua Moore represented the Crusader boys on the South Carolina team which defeated Georgia 97-84… He also played about half the game scoring 8 points… Congratulations to Coach Marlett and these fine young athletes for the honor of being selected to represent the Crusaders on the South Carolina teams.
  • Baseball Game Today Postponed… Due to wet field conditions, the Crusader’s home region opener against Newberry Academy has been moved to tomorrow at 5:30 pm.

College Notes:

  • Women’s D-I Brackets Revealed… Sunday evening the men’s D-I basketball brackets were revealed and we talked with you about that yesterday… well last night it was the women’s turn as their brackets were released… It’s not surprising that undefeated UConn drew the #1 seed in the Albany Regional and that once beaten (by South Carolina in the SEC Finals Tournament Finals) in the Kansas City Regionals… Notre Dame in the Spokane Regionals and Louisville in the Lexington, KY Regionals were the other two #1 seeds… The defending National Champions Gamecocks made it into the regionals as a #2 seed and will open play Friday night at the Colonial Life Center in a 7:30 pm contest against N.C. A&T in a game that can be seen on ESPN 2… The bad news for Gamecock fans is that they are in the same regional as UConn so that means that if both teams don’t stumble along the way they will meet in the regional finals and only one of them will make it to the Final Four…. To go to the NCAA website where and interactive bracket for the entire women’s tournament is located, click here.
