Local Notes:

  • Softball: Clinton 5 – Whitmire 3… The Red Devils softball team got back into action last night traveling over to Whitmire to take on the Wolverines and the ride back most likely seemed shorter than the one going over as the Red Devils took a 5-3 win… The Red Devils scored first plating 2 runs in the top of the second inning when with 2 outs Madelyn Wood singled and Jam Akins drove her home with a triple and then Akins scored when Grayson Taylor singled…. Whitmire got one run back in the bottom of the inning but Clinton neutralized that by scoring one in the top of the third… Madison Burton tripled and then came home when Dianna Martin singled… Whitmire responded scoring a run of their own in the bottom of the inning and then tied the game 3-3 with a single run in the fourth… Clinton scored what would prove to be the winning run in the top of the fifth inning when Burton doubled, stole third and came home Martin grounded out… Clinton picked up their final run in the top of the seventh when Burton reached on a walk and later scored on a single by Caroline Birchmore… Madison Burton had 3 of the Red Devils 8 hits and Dianna Martin had 1 but had 2 RBIs… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: CHS-SB-4-9-18-Whit … For the games scorecard, click on the following: CHS-SB-4-9-18-Whit-SC… The team is at home today as they host the Chapman Panthers in a JV-Varsity doubleheader.

  • Baseball: Laurens 4 – Clinton 3… The Raiders and the Red Devils hooked up last night at Ed Prescott Field and it was a close one but when the final out was registered the Raiders had taken a 4-3 won over the Red Devils… Both teams scored single runs in the second inning and Clinton picked their up when Konnor Richardson doubled and later scored on a wild pitch… The Raiders got theirs when Tanner Smith singled, stole second and later was driven in on and RBI single Heath Bragg… The Red Devils responded scoring 2 runs in the top of the third when Thomas Hellams and Dawson Green led the inning with back to back singles and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Riddle and a Raider error… The Raiders came right back plating 3 runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-3 on 3 consecutive singles by Jalen Bragg, Nathan Rutter and Kobe Williams… Williams’ single drove in Bragg and then Zac Rice doubled to drive in the other two runners… Nate Towels picked up the win going 5 innings and Tanner Smith game in to pick up a save… Griffin Fuller took the loss for the Red Devils…  For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: LDHS-BB-4-9-Clinton … For the games scorecard, click on the following:LDHS-BB-4-9-Clinton-SC … Both teams are on the road today for very important region games as the Red Devils travel to Chapman and the Raider travel to Hillcrest..
  • BB JV: Laurens 14 – Clinton 4… Sorry no details.

Softball: Boiling Springs 7 – Laurens 0… The Raider softball team traveled up to Boiling Springs last night to take on the Bulldogs… Laurens took a 2-1 win at home a couple of weeks ago but the Bulldogs turned the tables plus some more as they took a 7-0 win over the Raiders… The Bulldogs put 3 runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning and that would prove to be enough as the Raider bats were still on spring break as they managed just 4 hits in the game and they also struck out 7 times and the Raiders did not draw a walk in the game… Octavia Johnson and Tamara Haney each had 2 hits for the Raiders… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: LDHS-SB-4-9-18-B-S … For the games scorecard, click on the following: LDHS-SB-4-9-18-B-S-SC… The Raiders return home today for a JV-Varsity doubleheader with the Hillcrest Rams… We plan on brining you the varsity game here about 7:30 and as usual we will stream in on the internet at

Pros… For more information on each of the games below, click on their score.

  • Braves: Nationals 2 – Braves 0… The nationals put 2 runs on the board in the bottom of the first and then made them hold up as they took a 2-0 win over the Braves in DC.
  • Drive: Lexington 8 – Drive 4… The Greenville Drive started a series with the Lexington Legends up in Lexington, KY last night on a sour note as the Legends took an 8-4 win over the Drive.
