Bonds Denied on Multiple Drug Charges

Multiple drug violations from two days ago and 15 months ago in Clinton were served on a local man yesterday. Clinton Public Safety placed 57-year-old Johnny Earl Womble of 1007 North Sloan Street, Clinton in the county detention center early yesterday morning following an overnight arrest. Later yesterday, he was served with five drug warrants and a Resisting Arrest charge from Wednesday of this week, and with a charge from early last year.

Charges include Trafficking in Methamphetamine 3rd or Subsequent Offense. A warrant states that Mr. Womble had 18.38 grams of methamphetamine in his possession on this Wednesday and has two prior convictions. Previous convictions are noted in other charges, as well.

Another warrant alleges Possession of Schedule II and III Narcotics with Intent to Distribute. It states Womble had 52 pills in his possession with intent to distribute, and that this occurred April 11th at Zee’s Food Store, 322 West Main in Clinton. That warrant notes this location is in close proximity to a school or park. One additional warrant alleges Possession of a Schedule IV Narcotic with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic with Intent to Distribute, both also alleging the violation on April 11th.

A Resisting Arrest warrant accuses Johnny Earl Womble of Interferrence with or Resisting Arrest by Police on this past Wednesday.

Clinton Police also served a Possession of s Schedule I to V Controlled Substance warrant on Womble alleging this offense occurred on January 3rd of 2017. It cites he had possession of 8 blue pills.

While a personal recognizance bond was set on the Resisting Arrest warrant, bond was denied on the six drug charges. Johnny Earl Womble remained in the Laurens County Detention Center this morning.
