  • Softball: Clinton 5 – Mid-Carolina 4… The Red Devil softball team took a come from behind 5-4 win over the Rebels by scoring two runs in the top of the seventh inning and then holding the Rebels scoreless in the bottom of the inning… The Rebels jumped on top scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning and the Red Devils did not get on the board until the 3rd when they plated a single run… Grayson Taylor singled and was later brought in on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Benson… The Rebels countered by getting that run back in the bottom of the inning… Clinton tied the game in the top of the 4th inning when they scored 2 runs… Elizabeth Childress singled and Ashlynn Abercrombie reached on a fielder’s choice and then both were driven in by Kam Akins single… The Rebels retook the lead in the 5th plating a single run to go up 4-3… In the decisive 7th inning, Akins doubled and was brought home on a single by Hunter Benson who took second on the throw… Benson then scored what proved to be the winning run Madison Burton doubled… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: CHS-SB-4-13-18-Mic-Car… For the games scorecard, click on the following: CHS-SB-4-13-18-Mic-Car-SC… The team will be back in action today as they travel to Laurens to take on the Laurens Raiders in their third meeting of the season.
  • Baseball: Mid-Carolina 8 – Clinton 0… Note: all of the following is based on the Mid-Carolina game Changer account of the game as Coach Fortson did not provide any details…Now the news is not as good where the baseball team is concerned as the Rebels took an 8-0 win at Clinton… The Rebels scored one run in the top of the 1st inning then added 4 more in the 5th and 3 in the 7th inning… The closest the Red Devils came to scoring was in the 2nd inning when they had a runner at third with 2 outs but just could not get the clutch hit… The Rebels had 9 hits to the Red Devils 3 with Qua Quarles, Konner Richardson and Matt Thomas getting the 3 hits for the Red Devils… The team will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Newberry.

LDHS… The Raider softball and baseball teams faced off against the Hillcrest Rams last Friday with the softball team on the road and the baseball team at Ed Prescott Field.

  • Softball: Hillcrest 4 – Laurens 1… The Lady Raiders played much better against Hillcrest Friday than they did last Tuesday and with a win Friday still has a shot at the region championship… Even though they played better they still lost 4-1… The Rams put a single run on the board in the 3rd inning on a triple and a single… They then scored 3 runs in the 5th inning on a single, a pair of walks, a dropped third strike and a ground out… The Raiders only run came in the top of the 6th inning when with 2 outs Rachel Delio had a solo homer… The Raider actually outhit the Rams 7-5 with Delio being the only Raider to get more than 1 hit as she had a single to go along with her homer… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: LDHS-SB-4-13-18-Hill … For the games scorecard, click on the following: LDHS-SB-4-13-18-Hill-SC… The Raiders host Clinton tonight in a game that will not be heard here on Real Radio 860 WLBG but on another local station.
  • Baseball: Hillcrest 10 – Laurens 4…. While the softball team was up in Simpsonville the baseball team was hosting the Rams at Ed Prescott Field… The Raiders got a sign of what was to come as the leadoff batter for the Rams homered to put them up 1-0…  The scored 2 more runs in the inning to take a 3-0 lead before the Raiders ever came to bat… The Raiders trailed 7-0 going into the bottom of the 6th inning when they finally got on the board… Layton Mahon, Jalen Bragg and Nathan Rutter each had singles to start the inning and load the bases… They remained there as the next two batters struck out but all there scored on a throwing error by the Ram’s third baseman to make it 7-3… The Rams countered that with 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning… The Raiders did not go quietly in the bottom of the 7th as Nick Robertson led the inning off drawing a walk and later scored when Jalen Bragg singled but it was too little too late as the Rams took the win… The Rams outhit the Raider 11-7 and 2 of their 11 hits were homers… Layton Mahon led the Raiders with 3 hits while Jalen Bragg had 2… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: LDHS-BB-4-13-Hill … For the games scorecard, click on the following: LDHS-BB-4-13-Hill-SC… The Raiders return to action tomorrow when they also travel to Greenwood to take on the Eagles.

Richard Winn 12 – Crusaders 0… The Crusader baseball team hosted the Richard Winn Eagles last Friday on Senior Night where they honored their three seniors Ryan Anderson, Will Tindall and Joshua Moore… A team always tries a little harder to take a win on Senior Night but the Eagles would have none of that as they took a 12-0 win over the Crusaders … They came off the bus hitting as they pounded out 12 hits to the Crusaders’ 3 hits… Dawson Foster, Cal Robertson and Thomas Lowry had the 3 hits for the Crusaders… For the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: LA-4-13-RicWin… For the games scorecard, click on the following: LA-4-13-RicWin-SC

Pros… For more information on each of the following games, click on their scores.

  • Braves… The Braves were up in Chicago this weekend in what was supposed to be a 3-game series but weather forced the postponement of yesterday’s game… On Friday the Braves did take a 4-0 win over the Cubs but the Cubs rebounded and took a 14-10 win in a slugfest on Saturday… The team returns home tonight to start a 3-game series with the Phillies tonight.
  • Drive… The Greenville Drive were at home this weekend trying to finish out a 4-game series with the Rome Braves that started back on Thursday with a 14-4 win… That would be the last win in the series the Drive would take as Rome took a 10-6 win on Friday and a 4-0 win on Saturday… As you might expect the game yesterday was postponed until 6-11-18 due to weather… The Drive are scheduled to remain at home and start a 3-game series with the Columbia Fireflies tonight.
