Sports Report for Tuesday, 4-24-2018

PC Notes… Click on the scores of the following for more information.

  • Softball… The PC softball team traveled to Buies Creek, NC this past weekend to take on the Campbell Camels… On Friday the Blue Hose trailed by 4 but fought back only to have their rally fall short as Campbell took a 5-3 win… The two teams played a doubleheader on Saturday and the news is not good here as Campbell won both games by scores of 7-2 and 8-1… The softball season for PC is winding down fast and their last home games of the season will be tomorrow (weather permitting) when they host the Bulldogs of SC State in a doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm.
  • Baseball… After taking the 7-4 win against South Carolina a week ago tonight, the PC baseball team traveled to Gardner-Webb for a 3-game series with the Runnin Bulldogs over the weekend and each of the 3 games were decided by a single run… On Friday PC lost to the G-W by a score of 3-2 after butting 2 runs on the board in the first inning but could not hold the lead…  The Saturday game was very similar to the Friday game in that PC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and again could not hold it as they lost by a score of 5-4… The final game of the series on Sunday saw G-W jump out to an early lead to go up 6-1 and then PC rally for 4 runs in the in the 7th and 8th inning but came up just short as the Bulldogs took a 6-5 win to earn a sweep of the series… The team travels to Clemson tomorrow for a 6:30 pm game (weather permitting) with the Tigers.
