Local Notes:

CHS

  • Soccer: West Oak 1 – Clinton 0… Back on Tuesday night the Red Devil boys’ soccer team hosted the West Oak Warriors in opening round action of the Class-AAA soccer playoffs… The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half of action and the match remained scoreless until there was about 4 minutes left in the second half… That is when the lone goal of the match was scored and unfortunately for red Devil fans it was scored by West Oak as they took a 1-0 win ending Clinton’s season in the single elimination tournament… The Red Devil completed one of their best seasons ever in soccer finishing second in the region with a 7-3-1 record and 10-9-3 overall… Congratulations to the Red Devils on for the great season this year!
  • Tennis Starts Playoffs Today…  The Red Devil boys’ tennis team finished their regular season last week with a 13-3 overall record and captured first place in the region with a perfect 10-0 record… That record earned them a bye in the first round of the Class-AAA playoffs which started earlier this week… well the team starts their journey in the second round of the playoffs today as they host the Southside Tigers… The match will is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm at the CMS tennis courts and I am sure Coach Simmons and the team would love to have a large number of Red Devil fan there to cheer them on as they start the playoffs…. Go Big Red.
