Nearly 15,000 Ballots So Far

Absentee voting for the Statewide Primaries is underway at county elections offices throughout the state.  Chris Whitmire, Director of Public Information & Training with the South Carolina State Election Commission, said that as of yesterday, nearly 15,000 absentee ballots had been issued statewide.  Voters who are age 65 and older, who will be on vacation, or who can’t go to the polls due to their job are all qualified to vote absentee.   Whitmire said that if you meet one of these or any of the other qualifying reasons, you can vote early by absentee ballot.

Voters can find more information on absentee voting, check their absentee ballot status, check their voter registration, and get a sample ballot at scVOTES.org. Locally, other assistance is also available at the Laurens County Voter Registration and Elections Office on the ground floor of the Historic Laurens County Courthouse, on the Laurens Square.
