Local Notes:

Clinton Dixie Youth All-Star Teams

  • Minors Finish Second In District… The Clinton 9-10 Minor All-Star team was able to complete their participation in the often rain delayed District 3 Tournament on Friday… As you may recall that Clinton, Abbeville & Star-Iva both had 1 loss after games on Thursday night…. That had a draw to see who would get the bye in the final two games and Star-Iva drew the bye… On Friday Clinton and Abbeville faced off and good news for Clinton fans as Clinton took a 12-10 win in that game… After a short rest Clinton then took the field in a winner-take-all game for the championship… The outcome of that game saw Star-Iva take a 10-0 win as they simply had more pitchers available than Clinton having to play the extra game and unlike other levels of baseball there is a minimum amount of rest required by pitcher that varies by the amount of pitches they have thrown… Even though they finished second, Clinton will still be heading to the State Tournament later this month.
