Local Notes:

Laurens County Speedway Results… Checking on the results from last Saturday night’s racing in the main events of each division’s racing you find:

  • 4-Wheel Drive… Rod Tucker picked up his 11th win of the season as he took the win by over 3 seconds ahead of second place finisher Larry Teal… jasper Brown finished third.
  • Limited… Michael Smith took his second win in as many weeks in the Limited main event… Tony Quarles was second and Jim Rogers was third.
  • 604 Crate… Brad Rachels was able to out-drive Thomas Robinson to pick up the win in the 604 Crate main event… Robinson did finish second and Mike Akeson was the next one across the finish line taking third.
  • Thunder Bombers… In the Thunder Bombers main event, Dan Lawson and Brandon Satterfield battled throughout the race for the lead and when the checkered flag dropped it was Lawson taking it with Satterfield close behind… Dusty Eaves took third.
  • 602 Crate… Now Cody Overton started the 602 Crate main event on the outside of row 2 but that is not where he finished as he took the lead early in the race from Colt Smith and then went on to take the win going away… Smith did finish second with Jim Rogers taking third.
  • FWD… Joel Cabe started on the outside of row 1 in the FWD main vent and jumped into the lead early and held on to take the win… Jeremy Case finished 2nd and Travis Jamison eventually took 3rd… The reason I say eventually is because Shawn Nichols had finished 3rd but failed a post-race inspection and was disqualified.
  • Enduro… And finally in the Enduro main event Shane Roberts was able to hold off Eric Caughman to take the win… Robert Gollatt came in third.

Pros …Click on the scores of the following for more information about the contest.

  • Yankees 8 – Braves 5… In game 2 of their 3-game series last night, the Yankees took an 8-5 win over the Braves in a game that saw a total of 6 homeruns hit, 3 by each team… The Braves trailed 6-0 going into the top of the 5th inning when Ender Inciarte had a 2-run homer and Ozzie Albies had a solo shot to make it 6-3… In the top of the 7th inning Nick Markakis blasted a 2-run homer to cut the Yankee’s lead to on at 6-5… However in the bottom of the 8th inning the Yankee’s Giancarlo Stanton hit his 20th homerun of the season to make the score 8-5 and the Braves had no answer in the 9th inning… The two teams will play the rubber game of the series today starting about 1:05 pm.

  • Drive 5 – RiverDogs 3… The Greenville Drive and the Charleston RiverDogs completed their 4-game series at Flour Field last night and the Drive were able to avoid being swept in the series as they took a 5-3 win over the RiverDogs… For a change the Drive’s bats were hotter than the other teams as they pounded out 9 hits while 3 Drive pitchers held the RiverDogs to just 4 hits… The Drive start a road trip today with the first stop being in Columbia to take on the Fireflies.
