Clinton O-Zone All-Stars Win Again

  • Clinton 22 – Lancaster 4… After dropping their opening game in the State O-Zone Tournament in Union last week, the Clinton o-Zone All-Stars have now won two games in a row as they defeated Lancaster 22-4 last night in an elimination game… Clinton put 6 runs on the board in the top of the 1st inning and never looked back… Lancaster got their first run in the bottom of the same inning and did not score again until the bottom of the 4th inning when they plated 3 runs… Between that Clinton scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning, 2 in the 3rd and 7 in the 4th to take the game on the 10-run rule… Clinton pounded out 16 hits and was aided by 8 Lancaster errors and 4 wild pitches…. Bryce Young went 4-4 to lead the Clinton All-Stars at the plate and several other players had a multi-hit game… To see the box score for the game click here… Clinton is back in action tonight at 6:00 pm in another elimination game against North Myrtle Beach the team that handed Clinton its only loss (11-0) in their opening game of the tournament… I’m sure they would like to see a large number of fans follow them over as they seek revenge… Good Luck to Clinton!

 Laurens Little League Minors back in Action Tonight

  • The Laurens Little League (B3) Minors All-Star team will be back in action in their State Tournament being held at the Laurens City Parks tonight at 6:00 pm… This is a big game for the team as they and Northwood are the only two undefeated teams in the tournament and the winner of this game will be in the “driver’s seat” for the balance of the tournament… Come on down and watch some future Raiders if you can…. Good Luck to the team!

Free Football Camp This Saturday

  • There will be a free football camp for youth ages 8-18 this Saturday at KC Hanna Stadium… The Camp is being sponsored by Bigger Than Sports South Carolina an organization whose board members include Coach Chris Liner, Marcus Latimore, Jay Spearman and other notable former football players for across the state… The title of the camp is F.A.M.S. which stands for Faith, Agility, Movement and Speed…. The camp starts at 9:00 am and will finish at 11:30 am… Again it is free and other than cleats no special equipment or apparel is needed.

  • Braves… The Braves were off last night and will be back in action tonight as they start a short 2-game series with Toronto in Atlanta tonight…. The Braves are now tied with Philadelphia for the lead in the NL East with a 50-39 season record.
  • Drive 6 – Tourist 1… The Greenville Drive finished their 3-game series with the Ashville Tourist up in Ashville last night with a 6-1 win to give them the series win 2-1… The Drive simply outhit the Tourist 14-9 with one of their hits being a two-run homer by their right fielder Marino Campana his 14th homer of the season…. The Drive are off tonight and start a homestand tomorrow night with the Rome Braves being the first team into Flour Field.

 LDHS Softball

  • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude at 8:30 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through July 23rd.
  • Softball Tryouts… Coach Smith is also inviting any young lady in grades 7-12 who would like to come out for softball or just see if you might be interested to come to the workouts they are now having on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night between the hours of 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the LDHS softball field.

  • Clinton YMCA Summer Camps and Swimming Lessons… The Clinton Family YMCA will be having a full slate of summer sports camps this summer and will also be offering swimming lessons throughout the summer… To see complete details on all these click here… The next camps is a cheer camp starting July 9th for girls ages 5-12 and you must register by Friday, 7-6 at 5 pm… The other camp is a soccer camp starting July 16th for boys and girls ages 6-12… The deadline to register for it is July 13th at 5 pm… Again for more details on these and swimming lessons click here.
  • City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Sumer Camps… The City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Department will be conducting 2 more camps this summer… They will have a basketball camp (July 9-12) and a baseball camp (July 16-19)… Also registration will open for cheerleading, football and fall baseball at different times this summer… For more information about all of these, click here.
