Local Notes

Clinton O-Zone All-Stars

  • Clinton 12 – North Myrtle Beach 2… The Clinton O-Zone All-Stars went into last night’s game with N.M.B. looking for revenge as they were taking on N.M.B the team that handed them an 11-0 loss in their first game in the State O-Zone Tournament in Union… Well they got it as they took a 12-2 win to eliminate N.M.B. from the tournament…. N.M.B. actually got on the board first scoring a single run in the bottom of the first inning but Clinton responded by plating 2 in the top of the 2nd inning… Clinton plated 5 runs in the top of the 4th to break the game open and go on to the win… Clinton pounded out 15 hits while Caleb Taylor and Zane McClendon each gave up a single hit holding N.M.B. to just 2 hits one of which was a homer… Caleb Taylor and Bryce Young each homered for Clinton … Young, McClendon and Zy Leake each had 3 hits for Clinton… To see the game’s box score click here… Clinton now moves on the finals of the Dixon Bracket of the tournament and will face Hartsville this morning at 10:00 am… Hartsville is undefeated so Clinton must beat them twice today to move on the best 2 out of 3 series with the winner of the Deaton Bracket starting July 20th in Moncks Corner… Good Luck to Clinton in what I hope will be two games today.

Laurens Little League (B3) Minors All-Stars

  • Northwood 10 – Laurens 1… Last night at the Laurens City Parks the only two undefeated team in the State Minors Tournament faced off against each other as Northwood took on the Laurens team… Unfortunately for the fans of the home team, Northwood took a 10-1 win over Laurens…. Northwood scored in every inning except the first and their starting pitcher Zack Zadel went 5⅓ innings scattering 4 of the 5 hits Laurens had while striking out 6 and walking none… Uncharacteristically Laurens had 4 errors and 8 wild pitches in the game which more often than not aided the Northwood cause… Auston Williams had 2 of Laurens 5 hits… If you want to see the box score and some stats on the game click here and if you want to see the game’s scorecard click here… The loss drops Laurens into the elimination bracket where they will Greenville tonight at 7:00 pm and the winner of that game will take on Northwood tomorrow.
