1 of 4 Suspects in Burglary & Assault

A suspect in a night-time burglary and assault north of Clinton this past winter was served with warrants yesterday.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office charged 27-year-old Michael Lee Sammons of 110 Davis Street, Williamson with 1st Degree Burglary and with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. The warrants cite an investigation of Deputy Teseniar as indicating that on February 9th of 2018 Michael Sammons and three co-defendants broke into and entered a woman’s residence on Madden Road with intent to commit a crime there. The burglary allegedly occurred at night, while armed with a deadly weapon. Sammons is also accused of committing a battery on a male victim, with this assault deemed aggravated in that it involved weapons, specifically, a knife, and that it occurred after a 1st Degree Burglary had been committed. Michael Lee Sammons remained in the Laurens County Detention Center overnight, awaiting a bond hearing.
