Landscape Improvements in Traffic Islands

The Laurens Commission of Public Works was advised this week of plans underway to beautify the intersection of East Main Street with the 76 and 127 Bypasses. The CPW is to install a water line to provide irrigation for landscaping to be installed in the traffic islands at that intersection. The CPW and the City of Laurens are working together for that beautification project.

At their Monday evening meeting, the Commissioners were also advised about damage to landscaping at the CPW’s Church Street offices. On June 18th someone ran off the roadway and, in the process, took out an exit sign from the CPW parking area, knocked a chunk of concrete from the curb and took out a shrub from the yard. Laurens Police had not yet located a suspect for the incident. One wonders how much damage that impact with concrete curbing might have on a vehicle.
