Two Charges Cite Failure to Register

Failure to Register with the Sheriff of Laurens County was alleged in two warrants served on a local man yesterday. 44-year-old Kenneth Burnside of 401-A Paul Street, Laurens was charged by the Sheriff’s Office with Failure to Register with Sex Offender Registry and by State Probation and Parole with Violation of Probation.

A Sheriff’s warrant states that Kenneth Burnside failed to contact the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office on January 31st, 2018 to register as a sex offender, as required by law.

A  Probation and Parole warrant states that Burnside failed to report on February 2nd and March 2nd this year or afterwards, having last reported January 5th. A March 5th home visit reportedly discovered he had moved without notice or permission to an undisclosed location, thereby absconding supervision. His alleged failure to register as a sex offender was also cited, along with failure to make required payments. He’s also accused of failing to follow the advice and instructions of his agent.

Kenneth Burnside remained in the Laurens County Detention Center this morning with cash or surety bonds on the two charges totaling $77,000.
