  • 2018 Evening Day Soccer Camp… August 1 – 5, 2018. This camp is for youth ages 5-15 and is designed for player ability growth… Cost is $25 and it will be from 5PM – 8PM each day… For more information on this camp including registering online, click here…. Also 2018 Free Kids Basketball Camp… August 2-3, 2018, 9AM – Noon…. This camp is designed for youth in grades 1-6 where the coaches and players of the PC women’s basketball team will help your child improve their individual skills… For more information on this camp, click here.

CHS

  • Coach Simmons Named SCACA Coach of the Year… This past Sunday at the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association Banquet at the North Charleston Convention Center Clinton High School’s Coach Clovis Simmons was named as the 2018 Boys Coach of the Year… This past tennis season the Red Devils reached the Class AAA Finals for the second consecutive year and was named the Region 3, AAA Coach of the year for 10th consecutive year… Her other career accomplishments are too long to mention here but if you click here it will open up the press release announcing this award which list many of them… Our congratulations go out to Coach Simmons on an award well earned!

  

Laurens Little Majors All-Stars

  • Laurens 13 – Darlington 1… The Laurens Little League Majors All=Star team wasted little time getting down to business last night in their elimination game with Darlington as they scored 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and then went on to take a 13-1 win in 4 innings on the ten-run rule… Laurens then went on to score 4 runs in the second and third innings while holding Darlington to just a single run in the third inning… Laurens picked up their 13 runs (9 of which were earned) on 9 hits, 5 walks, 3 Darlington errors and a few wild pitches while 3 Laurens pitchers allowed only 2 hits while striking out 8 and walking just 1… EJ Grant and Jonah Hogge each had 2 hits with both of Grant’s hits being triples… To see the box score of the game click here… Laurens faces Irmo tonight at 7:00 pm in an elimination game as Irmo lost to Northwood 5-2 last night… Good Luck to the team!

  • Braves 12 – Marlins 1… The Braves traveled down to Miami last night to start a brief 2-game series with the Marlins… The Braves broke out the bats last night as they pounded out 16 hits to take a 12-1 win over the Marlins… Two of the Braves 16 hits were homers as Freddie Freeman hit his 17th homer of the season a 2-run shot in the in the 1st inning and Dansby Swanson picked up his 8th of the season a solo shot in the second inning…The teams will conclude the series with a game scheduled to start at 12:10 this afternoon. 
  • Hickory 6 – Drive 1… The Greenville Drive started a 4-game series with the Hickory Crawdads last night at Flour Field and the news is not good hear as the Crawdads took a 6-1 win over the Drive… Quite simply Hickory outhit the Drive 13-6 and 2 of those hits were homers.
  • Panthers… The Carolina Panthers will be reporting to Wofford College on Thursday, July 26th to start their annual training camp….  It starts with a Kickoff Party at Gibbs Stadium at 4 pm and the Panthers will have their first practice at 6:30 pm… Now to go to the Panthers website where you will find the training camp schedule, what not to bring, what you can bring and the answers to most any question you might have about the camp, click here.

 

LDHS

  • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude at 8:30 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of July.
  • Softball Tryouts… Coach Smith is also inviting any young lady in grades 7-12 who would like to come out for softball or just see if you might be interested to come to the workouts they are now having on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night between the hours of 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the LDHS softball field.
  • Cheerleading Kiddie Camp… Once again this year the LDHS Cheerleaders will be offering a Cheerleading Kiddie Camp on Saturday, August 4th in the Auxiliary Gym at LDHS… The camp will start at 9 am and conclude at noon and is open to youth ages 3-12… Instruction will be done by both JV and Varsity cheerleaders under the supervision of their coaches… There will be snacks, crafts and games as well as a T-shirt included in the $30 cost of the camp… Those who attend will give a performance at the end of the camp and on August 31st during the third quarter of the Raider football game with Myrtle Beach… Now for complete details on this camp, the registration form and contact information if you have further questions, click here.

  • Clinton YMCA Flag Football and Cheerleading… Registration is now open through August 17th for Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… Age groups will be 4 – 6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 for flag football and for grades K – 6 for cheerleading….
