Laurens Little League Majors Fall Short in State Finals

  • Northwood 10 – Laurens 7… The Laurens Little League Majors All-Star team saw their season come to an end last night as they fell to Northwood 10-7 in a hard fought game… Northwood broke on top scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning and Laurens replied with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning…. Northwood led 6-2 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning when Laurens loaded the bases with no outs but was only able only able to plate a single run when EJ Grant walked with the bases loaded making the score 6-3… Northwood responded by plating 4 runs in the top of the 4th but Laurens came right back and plated 3 runs in the bottom of inning when KD Mosley doubled with the bases loaded driving in 3 runs to make it 10-6… Laurens loaded the bases with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th inning and managed to get a single run when Owen Pridgen singled… Laurens entered the bottom of the 6th inning still trailing 10-7 where the first two batters popped out to the Northwood first baseman… Some teams might have cashed it in at that point and headed on home without a fight but not Laurens as the next 3 batters reached base only to come up short as the next batter grounded out… After the game Coach Jason Pridgen said he could not be more proud of the team for the way they battled all night against a good Northwood squad and that the future was bright for Laurens Little League as the program is being built with the right way with local talent and coaching… Laurens had 11 hits in the game with Owen Pridgen going 3-4 with an RBI to lead Laurens at the plate… To see the game’s box score and some stats click here and to see the game’s scorecard click here… Congratulations to the team for a great effort and finishing second in the state!
