  • The CLNTA will a 4 day youth camp starting this morning at PC for youth ages 8 and up… The cost is only $20 and the camp will start at 9:00am and conclude at 11am each day through Thursday…. For more information call Martha Wilder at 864-340-1888.

  • Bragg Commits to Florence-Darlington Technical College… Laurens Raider senior baseball player Jalen Bragg has decided to continue his education and baseball career after he finishes his senior season at Laurens this year at Florence-Darlington Technical College… Bragg hit .312 this past season with the Raiders with with a homer and 4 doubles among his 20 hits on the season…. Congratulations to Jalen!

Braves… The Braves finished out their home series with the Dodgers this weekend… As you may recall it started last Thursday with the Dodgers taking an 8-2 win over the Braves

  • Friday: Dodgers 4 – Braves 1… The news is no better for Braves fans on Friday as the Dodgers took a 4-1 win… The Dodgers only outhit the Braves 7-6 but two of their 7 hits were homers and the best the Braves could do was a double and 6 singles.
  • Saturday: Dodgers 5 – Braves 1… On Saturday the Dodgers made it three in a row over the Braves as they took a 5-1 win over the Braves… Four Dodger pitchers held the Braves to just 3 hits while 6 Braves pitchers gave up 6 hits… The Braves only run in the game came in the 7th when Johan Camargo had a solo shot to give him 11 homers on the season.
  • Sunday: Braves 4 – Dodgers 1… Yesterday the Braves avoided being swept by the Dodgers as they took a 4-1 giving the Dodgers the series win 3 games to 1… The big story in this game was the Braves starting pitcher Sean Newcomb who carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning where he retired the first two batters and two strikes on the Dodgers Chris Taylor who singled through the left side of the infield to break up the no-hitter… The Braves had 8 hits with Markakis going 3-4 with a 2-run homer…. The Braves will remain at home as they start a 3-game series with the Miami Marlins tonight.

Drive… The Greenville Drive were down on the coast of SC taking on the Charleston RiverDogs in a 3-game series.

  • Friday: Drive 4 – RiverDogs 2… In the first game on Friday the Drive scored 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning to break a 2-2 tie and then made it hold up as the Drive took a 4-2 win.
  • Saturday: Drive 10 – RiverDogs 8… Now if you like a lot of offense the Saturday game would have been to your liking as the Drive took a 10-8 win over the RiverDogs… The Drive took an early 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the 4th inning before the RiverDogs finally got on the board… The RiverDogs continued their comeback and by the time the entered the top of the 9th inning the Drive were trailing 8-7… The Drive plated 3 runs in the 9th and then held the RiverDogs scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take the 10-8 win.
  • Sunday: Drive 3 – RiverDogs 2… Yesterday the Drive were able to do something that has been rare this season and that is sweep a series as they took a 3-2 win over the RiverDogs… The Drive scored all 3 of their runs in 2nd inning and then held on to take the win… The Drive will return home tonight to Flour Field to start a series with the Ashville Tourist tonight.

Panthers… The Carolina Panthers Training Camp at Wofford College is now open and will close on Monday August 13th… To go to the Panthers website where you will find the training camp schedule, what not to bring, what you can bring and the answers to most any question you might have about the camp, click here…. The Panthers are scheduled to take the field for practice today at 9:25 and practice will end about 11:30 am… They will not be having practice tomorrow as they have the day off.

  • Clinton YMCA Summer Camps and Swimming Lessons… The Clinton Family YMCA will be having a full slate of summer sports camps this summer and will also be offering swimming lessons throughout the summer… To see complete details on all these click here… The next camp is a dance camp starting August 6th for girls ages 5-12… The deadline to register for it is Friday, August 3rd at 5 pm… Again for more details on these and swimming lessons click here.
  • Cheerleading Kiddie Camp… Once again this year the LDHS Cheerleaders will be offering a Cheerleading Kiddie Camp on Saturday, August 4th in the Auxiliary Gym at LDHS… The camp will start at 9 am and conclude at noon and is open to youth ages 3-12… Instruction will be done by both JV and Varsity cheerleaders under the supervision of their coaches… There will be snacks, crafts and games as well as a T-shirt included in the $30 cost of the camp… Those who attend will give a performance at the end of the camp and on August 31st during the third quarter of the Raider football game with Myrtle Beach… Now for complete details on this camp, the registration form and contact information if you have further questions, click here.
  • Clinton YMCA Flag Football and Cheerleading… Registration is now open through August 17th for Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… Age groups will be 4 – 6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 for flag football and for grades K – 6 for cheerleading….   • PC Summer Sports Camps… This summer various sports at PC will be holding camps for various age groups of youth in the area… To see a complete listing of all the camps click here… The next camp is: 2018 Evening Day Soccer Camp… August 1 – 5, 2018. This camp is for youth ages 5-15 and is designed for player ability growth… Cost is $25 and it will be from 5PM – 8PM each day… For more information on this camp including registering online, click here…. Also 2018 Free Kids Basketball Camp… August 2-3, 2018, 9AM – Noon…. This camp is designed for youth in grades 1-6 where the coaches and players of the PC women’s basketball team will help your child improve their individual skills… For more information on this camp, click here
  • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude at 8:30 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of July.
