PC Notes … Please look below in the This & That Section for information about two basketball camps starting tomorrow and Thursday over at PC.

College Notes – Preseason ACC & SEC Conference Polls…  A quick look at how the media and coaches see the conferences football rankings before the season starts.

  • ACC… It is little wonder that the preseason ACC team to beat is the 3-time defending champion Clemson… The Tigers were overwhelming pick of the media in the recently completed 2018 ACC Football Kickoff… The media picked Clemson to finish first in the Atlantic division followed by Florida State, NC State, Boston College, Louisville, Wake Forest and Syracuse… In the Coastal Division they see Miami finishing first and facing the Tigers in the ACC Championship game… The balance of the Coastal Division is thought to finish in this order; Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke, Pitt, North Carolina and Virginia… For more details on how they see things click here.
  • SEC… Over in the SEC the media seem to think that Alabama will again be the Western Division champ and win the SEC Championship game again this year and as defending National Champion that looks like a good bet… The rest of the Western Division is thought to finish in this order; Auburn, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss and Arkansas… The team that the media think will finish first in the Eastern Division and face Bama in the SEC Title Game is the Georgia Bulldogs… The rest of the Eastern Division they think will finish like this; South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt… Again for more details including Preseason All-Star Team selections click here.

Pros …Click on the scores of the following for more information about the contest.

  • Braves 5 – Marlins 3 … Despite being outhit by the Marlins 8-6 last night at Sun Trust Park in Atlanta, the Braves took a 5-3 win over the Marlins in the opening game of their 3-game series last night… The main reason for the win was that Freddie Freeman (18) and Ronald Acuna Jr (10) both had solo homers for the Braves and Johan Camargo had a pair of doubles
  •  Tourist 6 – Drive 5 (10)… The Greenville Drive returned home to Flour Field last night as they opened a series with the Ashville Tourist… The Tourist took a 6-5 win over the Drive last night in 10 innings in what was a tough loss for the Drive… The Tourist jumped out to a 3-0 lead as they put 3 runs on the board in the first inning… The Drive fought back and by the time the game reached the end of 9 innings they had tied the game 4-4…. In the top of the 10th the Tourist scored 2 runs to take the lead… The Drive did not roll over though as they got one of the runs back in the bottom of the 10th but could get no closer… The teams will play a doubleheader today starting at 4:30 to make up a rained out game from earlier in the month.
  • Panthers… The Carolina Panthers Training Camp at Wofford College is now open and will close on Monday August 13th… To go to the Panthers website where you will find the training camp schedule, what not to bring, what you can bring and the answers to most any question you might have about the camp, click here….
