CHS

  • Football Scrimmage at CHS Practice Field Today… As I mentioned to you yesterday morning, Coach Webb has moved the start time for today’s first football scrimmage has been moved to 10:00 am this morning instead of the previously announced 6:00 pm… I can also tell you that the scrimmage with the Midland Valley Mustangs has also been moved to the practice field on the campus of CHS and will NOT be played at Wilder Stadium… If you get a chance come on out and get your first look at the Red Devils in live action… Go Big Red!

  • Raiders First Scrimmage at Home Tomorrow… The Laurens raiders will host BHP, Byrnes and Strom Thurmond tomorrow at KC Hanna Stadium and the football practice / soccer field starting at 10:00… Laurens will play all 3 of their contest on the field at KC Hanna… If you would like to see the complete schedule for tomorrow and the special rules for the scrimmage, click on the following:

 

College Notes

  • Clemson… The Tigers reported for the first day of fall practice yesterday and the only big thing on the agenda was the team Weigh-In… If you would like to see what each Tiger weighed in at click here.
  • South Carolina… Will Muschamp held his Media Day News Conference yesterday where he answered a ton of questions prior to starting the Gamecocks fall practice… For a complete rundown of his comments and answers to questions, click here.

  • Braves 4 – Mets 2The Braves started a 4-game series with the Mets in New York last night on a positive note as they took a 4-2 win… The game was tied 1-1 going into the top of the 3rd inning when the Braves plated 3 runs to take the lead and then went on to take the win… The top of the order had 5 of the Braves 6 hits on the night as Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr had 2 hits each and Freddie Freeman 1…    
  • Drive… The Drive and the Rome Braves were rained out last night up in Greenville and they will now try to get the game in tomorrow as part of a doubleheader starting at 4:00 pm.    
  • Panthers… The Carolina Panthers Training Camp at Wofford College is now open and will close on Monday August 13th… To go to the Panthers website where you will find the training camp schedule, what not to bring, what you can bring and the answers to most any question you might have about the camp, click here…. The Panthers will NOT be practicing up at Wofford today as they are traveling to Charlotte to have their annual Fan Fest at the Bank of America Stadium starting at 7:00 pm… The Panthers will have tomorrow off and return to Spartanburg on Sunday where they will have an afternoon practice starting at 3:10 pm.
  • NASCARSchedule: The NASCAR Cup Series and the Xfinity Series travel to Watkins Glen this weekend for road course racing… The Xfinity race will be Saturday at 3 pm and the Monster Energy Cup race will be Sunday at 3 pm… For more on this weekend’s schedule click here….   • Clinton YMCA Summer Camps and Swimming Lessons… The Clinton Family YMCA will be having a full slate of summer sports camps this summer and will also be offering swimming lessons throughout the summer… To see complete details on all these click here… The next camp is a dance camp starting August 6th for girls ages 5-12… The deadline to register for it is Friday, August 3rd at 5 pm… Again for more details on these and swimming lessons click here.
  • Cheerleading Kiddie Camp… Once again this year the LDHS Cheerleaders will be offering a Cheerleading Kiddie Camp on Saturday, August 4th in the Auxiliary Gym at LDHS… The camp will start at 9 am and conclude at noon and is open to youth ages 3-12… Instruction will be done by both JV and Varsity cheerleaders under the supervision of their coaches… There will be snacks, crafts and games as well as a T-shirt included in the $30 cost of the camp… Those who attend will give a performance at the end of the camp and on August 31st during the third quarter of the Raider football game with Myrtle Beach… Now for complete details on this camp, the registration form and contact information if you have further questions, click here.
  • Clinton YMCA Flag Football and Cheerleading… Registration is now open through August 17th for Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… Age groups will be 4 – 6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 for flag football and for grades K – 6 for cheerleading….   • PC Summer Sports Camps… This summer various sports at PC will be holding camps for various age groups of youth in the area… To see a complete listing of all the camps click here… The next camp is: 2018 Evening Day Soccer Camp… August 1 – 5, 2018. This camp is for youth ages 5-15 and is designed for player ability growth… Cost is $25 and it will be from 5PM – 8PM each day… For more information on this camp including registering online, click here…. Also 2018 Free Kids Basketball Camp… August 2-3, 2018, 9AM – Noon….   • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude at 8:30 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of August
