Night-Time Home Burglary on Ridge Road

Charges from a home burglary in Eastern Laurens County last month were served yesterday by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect, 21-year-old Elijah Sant Swartz of 153 McDonald Street, Whitmire, had been arrested Monday. He is now charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Grand Larceny and with Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

Deputy Anthony Ritter states that on July 19th Swartz entered a dwelling in the 7,000 address range of Ridge Road, Whitmire without consent and with intent to commit a crime therein. This reportedly occurred during the nighttime while he was armed with a deadly weapon. Swartz then allegedly carried away a $20 bill, one handgun, three rifles, two shotguns and two yellow-gold neck chains, valued at $3,500.  Swartz was allegedly carrying what appeared to be a 41 Magnum pistol and other firearms during commission of this violent crime.

Elijah Sant Swartz remained in the Laurens County Detention Center earlier this morning, awaiting a bond hearing.
