CHS  

  • Meet the Devils… The fall version of Meet the Red Devils is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21 at 6:00 pm in the main gym at CHS… All fall CHS and CMS athletes will be recognized… This includes: 7th grade football, 8th grade football, CMS cheerleaders, CMS volleyball, CHS cross country, CHS girls’ tennis, CHS JV & varsity volleyball, CHS JV & varsity cheerleaders, JV football, and the 2018 Clinton High School varsity football team… save the date and make plans to go out and support YOUR Red Devils!

  • Raiders Rally & Sports PreviewLaurens District 55 Sports Director Ed Murray recently announced that there will be holding the inaugural Raider Rally and Sports Preview on August 18th at KC Hanna Stadium from 5:00 – 7:00 pm… The event is FREE and in addition to the coaches and student-athletes from football, cheerleading, volleyball, cross country, golf, and tennis there will be other activities, concessions, music, face painting raffles and the latest Raider gear on sale… For more information about the event, click here.
  • Century Club Memberships Now on Sale… Century Club memberships for the coming school year are now on sale for Laurens County School District 55… This is the only way to get season football tickets for the upcoming season… As a member you will receive two reserved seat football regular season tickets (for playoff games you will have to pay for the tickets – SCHSL Rules – but you will sit in your regular seat) , a reserved parking spot for the Century Club lot directly in front of KC Hanna Stadium. You will also receive two athletic passes, which allow you to attend all other regular season (NOT PLAYOFF) athletic contests (excluding varsity football) free of charge… As a Century Club member you may also purchase additional reserved seat football season tickets for $30 per seat… For those fans that enjoy tailgating before to each football game, The Century Club will continue offering the Touchdown Tailgate Zone… The Touchdown Tailgate Zone membership includes all of the privileges of a regular Century Club membership PLUS an additional reserved parking space and an area for you, your family, and friends to tailgate prior to each Raider home football game. The cost of the Touchdown Tailgate Zone is just an additional $50. Laurens County Speedway… Looking at the results in each of the divisions main events last Saturday night you find:

  • Thunder Bombers… James Hudson took the win in the Thunder Bombers main event which was a race filled with cautions and a big crash on the last lap… After the dust settled Casey Lawson finished second and Dan Lawson third.
  • SCEA 604 Crate… In the 604 Crate main event, Dale Timms took the win by over 3 seconds after they had 2 accidents on the first lap… Terry Bullard and Colby Cannon were the next two across the finish line.
  • 4-Cylinder… In the 4-Cylinder division, Rod Tucker has been the man to beat and that was the case again last Saturday night as he picked up his 14th win f the season by over 4.5 seconds in front of Larry Teal… Scott Nelson claimed third.
  • Enduro… The Enduro main event had 4 cautions in the first four laps but eventually late in the race Bruce Barnett grabbed the lead and went on to take the win… Clay Crowder took second and Eric Caughorn third with a flat tire.
  • FWD… The FWD main event has its share of cautions but when the checkered flag came out Travis Jamieson was the first driver it waved over with Carson Crowder taking second and Joel Cabe third.
  • 602 Crate… In this main event, Dustin Morris took the lead right from the start and never trailed… Colt Smith won the battle for second place just ahead of Lee Cooper.
  • Limited… In the Limited main event Michael Smith started in third place but moved to the lead quickly and then went on to win the race… Tony Quarles and Dustin Smith were the next two drivers to get the checkered flag.

  • Braves… The Braves opened a series with the Washington Nationals yesterday playing a day / night doubleheader… First Game: Nationals 8 – Braves 3…  In the first game the Nationals took an 8-3 win over the Braves outhitting them 12-7… The nationals had two big innings as they scored 4 in the 4th and 4 in the 6th in rout to the win…. Game 2: Braves 3 – Nationals 1… The Braves rebounded in the second game to take 3-1 win behind a strong pitching performance by Sean Newcomb who pitched 6 strong innings giving up the one earned run on 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking 2…Ender Inciarte went 2-4 with a 2-run triple in the top of the 9th which proved to be the difference in the game.
  • Fireflies 6 – Drive 4The Greenville Drive started a series last night down in Columbia with the Fireflies and it was not a good start as the Fireflies took a 6-4 win… Both teams had 9 hits but 3 Drive errors helped decide the game.
  • Panthers… The Carolina Panthers will not be holding a training session at Wofford College today as they are in Charlotte getting ready to travel up to Buffalo to take on the Bills tomorrow night… To go to the Panthers website where you will find the training camp schedule, what not to bring, what you can bring and the answers to most any question you might have about the camp, click here…. The Panthers will be back at Wofford Saturday (8-11) when they start practice at 3:10 pm.

  • Clinton YMCA Flag Football and Cheerleading… Registration is now open through August 17th for Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… Age groups will be 4 – 6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 for flag football and for grades K – 6 for cheerleading….   • Laurens City Parks and Recreation Fall Ball… Registration is now open for fall baseball through the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation offices… There are 2 categories available… Coaches Pitch for Ages 6-8 and Kids Pitch for ages 9-11… Cost is $40… Registration is at their offices The Ridge located at 301 Exchange Drive and registration will close August 31st… For more information call 681-7275 or visit http://www.laurensrecreation.com/

  • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude at 8:30 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of August
  • Laurens Family YMCA 2018 – 2019 Sports Schedules… The Laurens Family YMCA has released the schedules for signing up for different sports during the 2018-2019 sports seasons… To see the entire list of sports, ages for participation, sign-up dates, cost and when the season begins click here… If you have any other questions call the Y at 984-2626… The current sports you can sign up for now are fall soccer and flag football… Early registration for both ends August 10th.
