Threatening Police

Laurens City Police have charged a local man with threatening police officers yesterday. 39-year-old James Michael Coker of 590 East Main Street, Laurens is charged with two counts of Threatening the Life of a Public Official and one charge of Resisting Arrest. Warrants cite an investigation of Sgt. Billy Sellers.

Coker is accused of threatening the life of a public official Tuesday by threatening to inflict great bodily injury with intent of taking the life of two Laurens Police Officers.

The Resisting Arrest warrant states that on August 7th at his home he fled into the residence to avoid apprehension by law enforcement and refused numerous commands to exit.

James Michel Coker was released yesterday afternoon by posting cash or surety bonds totaling $15,000 on the three charges.
