Car, Stolen from Anderson, Found in Clinton

A Clinton man is accused of having a stolen car yesterday. Clinton Public Safety arrested 52-year-old Tony Nathaniel Carter of 122 Grove Street, Clinton. He’s charged with Receiving Stolen Goods and Resisting Arrest.

One warrant states that in the South Bell Street area yesterday, Carter was in possession of a 1998 Ford Explorer that the Anderson Police Department indicated was stolen. The warrant says he should have realized it was stolen and that he has two or more convictions for previous property crimes.

According to a second warrant, Carter is accused of fleeing from law enforcement personnel in the West Centennial and Rook Street area. It state he resisted arrest or interfered with law enforcement efforts to investigate and stolen car case and place him under arrest.

Tony Nathaniel Carter remained in the Laurens County Detention Center this morning with bonds on the two charges totaling $6,000.
