Clinton Considers Dissolving Department of Public Safety

The organization of police and fire services in Clinton is on the agenda of a specially-called meeting of City Council this evening. An announcement yesterday indicates City Council is to meet at 6:30 this evening to consider an ordinance to repeal or amend certain provisions of the Code of the City of Clinton to dissolve the Department of Public Safety and other matters related thereto. The agenda calls for a presentation on the matter by the City Manager, followed by a vote on the ordinance.

At the monthly meeting for August, held Monday evening, Clinton City Council considered another Public Safety matter. They recognized and presented awards to Public Safety Officer Anthony Harris and Fire Commander Scott Shiflet for their work on behalf of the community. They won the Clinton Chronicle’s Reader’s Choice Awards for this year.
