  • Meet the Devils… The fall version of Meet the Red Devils is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21 at 6:00 pm in the main gym at CHS… All fall CHS and CMS athletes will be recognized… This includes: 7th grade football, 8th grade football, CMS cheerleaders, CMS volleyball, CHS cross country, CHS girls’ tennis, CHS JV & varsity volleyball, CHS JV & varsity cheerleaders, JV football, and the 2018 Clinton High School varsity football team…  save the date and make plans to go out and support YOUR Red Devils!

  • WSPA Features Laurens on High School Red Zone Report….  Back on Wednesday of last week WSPA TV featured the Laurens Raiders on their High School Red Zone Report… In case some of you missed it if you click here it will take you to their website where you can watch it… Now WSPA has also done some of the Raiders opponents already and if you would like to check those out click here to go to the WSPA high school webpage where you can find the ones they have already done… Now for you Red Devil fans WSPA will not feature the Red Devils until the night before the Laurens at Clinton game on their 11:00 pm newscast… You can use the same link above to see what opponents on the Red Devil schedule have been highlighted already.
  • Raiders Rally & Sports Preview… Laurens District 55 Sports Director Ed Murray recently announced that there will be holding the inaugural Raider Rally and Sports Preview on August 18th at KC Hanna Stadium from 5:00 – 7:00 pm… The event is FREE and in addition to the coaches and student-athletes from football, cheerleading, volleyball, cross country, golf, and tennis there will be other activities, concessions, music, face painting raffles and the latest Raider gear on sale… For more information about the event, click here.
  • Century Club Memberships Now on Sale… Century Club memberships for the coming school year are now on sale for Laurens County School District 55… This is the only way to get season football tickets for the upcoming season…  As a member you will receive two reserved seat football regular season tickets (for playoff games you will have to pay for the tickets – SCHSL Rules – but you will sit in your regular seat) , a reserved parking spot for the Century Club lot directly in front of KC Hanna Stadium. You will also receive two athletic passes, which allow you to attend all other regular season (NOT PLAYOFF) athletic contests (excluding varsity football) free of charge… As a Century Club member you may also purchase additional reserved seat football season tickets for $30 per seat… For those fans that enjoy tailgating before to each football game, The Century Club will continue offering the Touchdown Tailgate Zone… The Touchdown Tailgate Zone membership includes all of the privileges of a regular Century Club membership PLUS an additional reserved parking space and an area for you, your family, and friends to tailgate prior to each Raider home football game. The cost of the Touchdown Tailgate Zone is just an additional $50.   • Braves 5 – Marlins 2The Braves took a 5-2 win over the Marlins last night at Sun Trust Park thus giving them a sweep of the 4 game series… The Braves Ronald Acuna Jr. who has homered in his last 5 games and leadoff the Braves with a homer in the first inning his last 3 games was hit on the arm on the first pitch fastball from the Marlins Jose Urena … The benches cleared but no punches were thrown and before it quieted down Braves Manager Brian Snitker and Urena were ejected… Folks maybe it’s just me but it sure looked intentional and I MLB takes further action… The marlins jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the fired up Braves came back and took the lead in the 4th inning when they plated 3 runs with two of them coming off Dansby Swanson’s 10the homer of the season… Charlie Culbertson led the Braves at plate going 3-4 and scoring 2 runs while Kevin Gausman picked up the win going 6 innings… The Braves remain at home and start a 4-game series with the Colorado Rockies tonight.
  • Drive 9 Grasshoppers 6The Greenville Drive started a three-game series with the Greensboro Grasshoppers last night on a positive note as they took a 9-6 win… The big inning was the 2nd inning for the Drive as they plated 6 runs in the inning… The Drive outhit the Grasshoppers 14-7 with 13 singles and a double but were aided by 3 Hopper errors… Former Laurens Raider Thomas Jones went 1 for 5 in the game last night.
  • NASCARSchedule… Now all 3 of the of the NASCAR series will be in Bristol this weekend and if you would to see when they will be practicing, qualifying and racing click here… It will also give you information on how to watch it all… Cup Series Standings... As far as the Cup Driver Standings are concerned they are still pretty much the same as they have been for the last few weeks… The top five in order are Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch and Clint Boyer in that order….   • Clinton YMCA Flag Football and Cheerleading… Registration is now open through August 17th for Flag Football and Cheerleading at the Clinton Family YMCA… Age groups will be 4 – 6, 7 – 9 and 10 – 12 for flag football and for grades K – 6 for cheerleading….   • Laurens City Parks and Recreation Fall Ball… Registration is now open for fall baseball through the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation offices… There are 2 categories available… Coaches Pitch for Ages 6-8 and Kids Pitch for ages 9-11… Cost is $40… Registration is at their offices The Ridge located at 301 Exchange Drive and registration will close August 31st… For more information call 681-7275 or visit http://www.laurensrecreation.com/

  • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude about 8:00 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of August
  • Laurens Family YMCA 2018 – 2019 Sports Schedules… The Laurens Family YMCA has released the schedules for signing up for different sports during the 2018-2019 sports seasons… To see the entire list of sports, ages for participation, sign-up dates, cost and when the season begins click here… If you have any other questions call the Y at 984-2626… The current sports you can sign up for now are fall soccer and flag football… Early registration ended August 10th but you can still register until August 27th it will just cost you a little more to do so.
