PC Notes

Local Notes

CHS  

  • Volleyball at Home Today… The Red Devil varsity volleyball team will be taking on the Ninety Six Wildcat today at CHS… Match starts at 5:30

LDHS

  • Girls Golf at Home Today… The Lady Raider golf team will host the Greenwood eagles today at 4:30 at Lakeside Country Club.
  • Raiders on the Road Today… The raiders have some teams on the road today… The girl’s tennis team travels to Wade Hampton today for a 5:00 pm match and the Raider volleyball teams will also be on the road today traveling to Wade Hampton also for a JV-Varsity matchup starting at 5:30.
  • Athletic Tickets On Sale On Line… A quick reminder that tickets for Raider home athletic events are available online… This is a great way to avoid the lines at the ticket booth… If you would like to do this, click here.

 

Laurens Academy… Yesterday the LA Crusader volleyball teams traveled to Greenville to take on another set of Crusaders, the Shannon Forest Crusaders.

  • V: SF 3 – LA 0…. The LA Crusader varsity volleyball team saw its record drop to 1-1 on the young season as SF took a 3-0 win… SF took the first set 25-18… The Crusaders fought back and made the second set close but still fell by a score of 28-26… SF then clinched the match with a 25-20 win in the third set.
  • MS: SF 2 – LA 0… In middle school action prior to the varsity match, SF took a 2-0 win over the Crusaders… Sorry no other details… The teams return to action today as they host Cambridge Academy starting at 4:00 pm.

Middle School

  • Jamboree Tomorrow… The four Laurens District 55 middle schools will be holding their annual jamboree at KC Hanna Stadium tomorrow at 5:00 pm at KC Hanna Stadium… Gray Court-Owings will be taking on Laurens Middle School and Hickory Tavern will be taking on Sanders in a half of football… The action starts at 5:00 so make plans to come out and get a glimpse of the future Raiders.

  • Braves … The Braves were off last night and return to action tonight as they start a short 2-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays at Sun Trust Park in Atlanta… The Braves are 73-57 on the season and are in first place in the NL East 3.5 games ahead of the second place Phillies
  • Drive 6 – Braves 2… The Greenville Drive started a series with the Rome Braves down in Georgia last night and good news for Drive fans as they took a 6-2 win over the Baby Braves… The Drive out hit the Braves 12-8 and neither team had any homers but the Drive did have more total bases (extra base hits) than the Braves.

Century Club Memberships Now on Sale… Century Club memberships for the coming school year are now on sale for Laurens County School District 55… This is the only way to get season football tickets for the upcoming season…  As a member you will receive two reserved seat football regular season tickets (for playoff games you will have to pay for the tickets – SCHSL Rules – but you will sit in your regular seat) , a reserved parking spot for the Century Club lot directly in front of KC Hanna Stadium. You will also receive two athletic passes, which allow you to attend all other regular season (NOT PLAYOFF) athletic contests (excluding varsity football) free of charge… As a Century Club member you may also purchase additional reserved seats football season tickets for $30 per seat… For those fans that enjoy tailgating before to each football game, The Century Club will continue offering the Touchdown Tailgate Zone… The Touchdown Tailgate Zone membership includes all of the privileges of a regular Century Club membership PLUS an additional reserved parking space and an area for you, your family, and friends to tailgate prior to each Raider home football game. The cost of the Touchdown Tailgate Zone is just an additional $50. Laurens City Parks and Recreation Fall Ball… Registration is now open for fall baseball through the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation offices… There are 2 categories available… Coaches Pitch for Ages 6-8 and Kids Pitch for ages 9-11… Cost is $40… Registration is at their offices The Ridge located at 301 Exchange Drive and registration will close August 31st… For more information call 681-7275 or visit http://www.laurensrecreation.com/

The Laurens County Touchdown Club has a full set of meetings scheduled to help celebrate high school football in Laurens County… The Club meets every other Friday at The Ridge with the meetings starting at noon… For more information about the TD Club including schedule, how to join and videos of the past meetings click here… The next meeting will be Friday, September 7th where the featured speaker will be Shell Dula, Executive Director of the SC Athletic Coaches Assoc.

Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude about 8:00 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of August

Laurens Family YMCA 2018 – 2019 Sports Schedules… The Laurens Family YMCA has released the schedules for signing up for different sports during the 2018-2019 sports seasons… To see the entire list of sports, ages for participation, sign-up dates, cost and when the season begins click here… If you have any other questions call the Y at 984-2626… The current sports you can sign up for now are fall soccer and flag football… Early registration ended August 10th but you can still register until August 27th it will just cost you a little more to do so.
