Middle School

Jamboree Results… The four Laurens District 55 middle schools held their annual jamboree at KC Hanna Stadium yesterday where they all played a half of football each.

  • LMS 38 – GCO 0…  The first half of football pitted the Laurens Middle School Tigers against the Gray Court-Owings Tigers… After last night’s contest the LMS Tigers might want to consider changing their name to the LMS Lightning as they scored on the scored on their first two offensive plays from scrimmage in route to a 38-0 win over GCO… On the first play after the opening kickoff Cayson Elledge scampered 60 yards for the TD with only 14 seconds off the game clock to make it 6-0 as the extra point failed… LMS held GCO on their first possession and took over on downs at the GCO 49 yard line… On the first play James Rawl hit Cayson Elledge with a 40 yard TD pass and again the extra point failed making it 12-0 with 5:34 left in the first quarter… Try as they might, the GCO Tigers just could not get their offense going against the bigger and quicker LMS Tigers though it was not form a lack of effort… Rawl threw another TD pass to Sion Hunter and another to … Devon Redd ad and Jayden Goodwin each had TD runs for LMS.
  • HT 14 – Sanders 6… The second half of football at KC Hanna yesterday saw the Hickory Tavern Panthers take a 14-6 win over the sanders Yellow Jackets… sanders got the ball first and drove to the HT 37 before turning it over on downs… Five plays later Carter Faulkner carried the ball in for the score form 40 yards out… The PAT failed and the Panthers led 6-0 with 6:37 left in the first quarter…. Sanders then fumbled on their next possession giving the Panthers the ball at the Sanders 48 yard line…  Five plays later Isaac Adams bulled the ball in from the 12 yard line… The two point conversion was good on a pass from mason Hamby to Nick Fowler to make it 14 0… Sanders never quit and they did get on the scoreboard on a 60 yard run by Ty’Kevious Kennedy with about 40 seconds left in the contest to make the final 14-6.

Pros … For more information on these games, click on their scores.

  • Rays 8 – Braves 5… The Braves and the Tampa Bay Rays not only battled each other last night but also the weather as rain caused the game to be stopped for a while but they did get the game in and when the final out was registered early this morning the Rays had taken an 8-5 win over the Braves to earn a split of the two-game series… The Rays only outhit Atlanta by 1 (12-11) but two of their hits were homers while only one of Atlanta’s was a round-tripper… Johan Camargo had a 3-run homer in the first inning his 14th homer of the season…. The Braves will make up a rained out game with the Cubs tonight in Atlanta.
  • Rome Braves 3 – Drive 2 (11)… The Greenville Drive and the Rome Braves continued their series last night down in Georgia with a pitchers’ duel that went 11 innings… The score was tied 1-1 at the end of 9 innings and remained that way until the 11th inning… The Drive picked up a single run in the top of the 11th only to have the Baby Braves come back and put two on the board in the bottom of the inning… The two teams will close out the 4-game series tonight down in Rome.
