Laurens City Council gave the go-head for a land transfer for a new manufacturing company interested in locating a plant in Laurens. In a called meeting Friday morning, council gave final unanimous approval to transfer a ten-acre tract of land in Hunter Industrial Park to the Laurens Commission of Public Works, which will then sell it to a manufacturing company that is now referred to as “Project Gator.” At the meeting, WLBG asked CPW General Manager John Young if he could disclose any details about the project. He said he could only share that this is a manufacturing company. As the meeting adjourned, City Attorney Tommy Thompson said, “This should work out well for us.”
John Young said that the company wants to build fairly soon, and he expects that details of the project will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
