Laurens CPW Approves Sale of Land For “Project Gator”

At Monday night’s Laurens Commission of Public Works Monthly Meeting, General Manager John Young responded to questions regarding the upcoming threat from Hurricane Florence.

“We have activated our storm procedures by evaluating our equipment, making sure everything is in order, being sure we have extra fuel ready for our trucks, and after the storm hits, we will be ready to send workers to other areas that may be hit hard because we have a mutual aid agreement with many other communities,” said Young.

In reference to the upcoming Project Gator, the commission unanimously approved Resolution 18-04, which authorizes the general manager to execute documents pertaining to the sale of 10.88 acres of land in the Hunter Industrial Park to Project Gator, for a price of $15,000.

“We should have the closing on the property in approximately ten days, and then the company will construct an industrial manufacturing facility,” said Young.
