LDHS

Tennis:

  • Hillcrest 6 – Laurens 1… Now doing a little catching up with the Lady Raider tennis team which traveled to Simpsonville on Monday to take on the Hillcrest Rams in non-region action and try as they might they still came up on the short end of a 6-1 score… The Raiders only win came from the #1 doubles team of Abby Davis and Anna Jenkins as they defeated their opponents in a 10 point tie breaker…. Cross Country… Yesterday the Raider cross country teams hosted Ware Shoals, Laurens Academy, Dixie and Abbeville out at the Trails at Lake Rabon.

  • Girls Finish Second…. The Raiders girls’ team finished 2nd at this home meet … The Raiders were led by Zoey Sward who finished 2nd with a time of 24:44… She was followed by teammates, Vanessa Harshaw, Ryleigh Bragg, and Dani Prince.
  • Boys Finish Second… The Raiders boys finished 2nd in Tuesday’s meet behind the Dixie Hornets… The Raiders by led my Evan Prince’s 1st place finish in a time of 17:45. Prince was followed by teammates Luis Rios-Brenna, Murphy Rush, Jaden Rice, and Jackson Edwards.

 

Laurens Academy… The Laurens Academy volleyball teams hosted the Knight of WW King last night in region volleyball action.

  • LA 3 – WW King 0… The Crusader varsity volleyball team keeps right on rolling along as last night they took a 3-0 win over the Knights… Sets cores were 25-21, 25-9 and 25-17.
  • MS: La 2 – WW King 0… In middle school action prior to the varsity, the news is just as good as the Crusaders took a 2-0 win… Set scores were 25-18 & 25-20… The Crusader volleyball teams will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Newberry Academy to take on the Eagles

 

Middle School Volleyball

  • Sanders 2 – LMS 0… The LMS volleyball team traveled to Sanders Monday as the two cross-town rivals met in region action… The Yellow Jackets took the win 2-0 in a fairly close match… Sanders took the first set 25-20 and the second set by a score of 25-19…LMS will host Northside Middle this afternoon at 5 pm while sanders host Brewer MS at 5.
  • CMS 3 – Hickory Tavern 0… Back on Monday the CMS Wildcat volleyball team traveled up to Hickory Tavern to take on the Panthers in region MS volleyball action… The ride back home to Clinton was most likely a happy one as the Wildcats took a 3-0 win over the Panthers… Set scores were 25-10, 25-16 and 25-7… The Wildcats will host the GCO Tigers today at 5 pm.

  • Cardinals 8 – Braves 1….    Last night down in Atlanta the Braves bullpen let them down as the Braves trailed the Cardinals by a single run (2-10 going into the top of the 8th inning when the cards struck for 4 runs and then added 2 more in the 9th to take an 8-1 win over the Braves… walks by the Braves pitchers and timely hitting by the Cards did the braves in… The Braves only run came on a solo homer by Ronald Acuna Jr. in the 3rd inning… The two teams wrap up their 3 game series with an afternoon game today where the first pitch is scheduled for 12:10 pm.

  • Clinton Family YMCA Youth Soccer… Registration is now open for youth soccer at the Clinton Family YMCA… The YMCA will offer the following age groups/playing divisions: 3 – 5, 6 – 8 and 9 – 12… Registration fees are $50.00 for Y members; and $65.00 for Non-members… Financial Aid and assistance is available… The YMCA will not deny anyone the opportunity to participate in its youth sports activities….   • The Laurens County Touchdown Club has a full set of meetings scheduled to help celebrate high school football in Laurens County… The Club meets every other Friday at The Ridge with the meetings starting at noon… For more information about the TD Club including schedule, how to join and videos of the past meetings click here… The next meeting will be Friday, September 21st when the featured speaker will be Tommy Spangler, Head Coach of the PC Blue Hose football team.
  • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude about 8:00 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of September
  • Laurens Family YMCA 2018 – 2019 Sports Schedules… The Laurens Family YMCA has released the schedules for signing up for different sports during the 2018-2019 sports seasons… To see the entire list of sports, ages for participation, sign-up dates, cost and when the season begins click here… If you have any other questions call the Y at 984-2626… Registration will open September 17th for Fall Teeball and Fall Softball… Registration for both will end on October 21st and there will be NO late registration….
