PC Notes

  • Blue Hose Travel to Kennesaw State… The PC Blue Hose football team will be on the road tomorrow as they travel to Kennesaw State to take on the Owls….PC is 2-1 on the season and will face a tough Owl team that is 4-1 on the season and ranked #3 in the FCS Coaches Poll… Kickoff is scheduled for 2 pm and you can catch the game on the PC Football Network and view live stats at


Local Notes

Football Tonight… All 3 of the county high schools varsity football teams will be at home tonight and it is also Homecoming at all 3 schools.

  • Laurens Academy… The Crusaders will be hosting the Eagles of Richard Winn Academy… Both teams come into the game with 2-4 records… The Crusaders have a 2-game winning streak on the line not counting the forfeit last Friday when they simply did not have enough well players to play.
  • Clinton… The Red Devils will be hosting the Rebels of Mid-Carolina HS… Both teams have one win on the season and are eager to pick up the second win… The Rebels only win came back in Week 0 when they defeated Whitmire 33-7… Playoff chances are still alive for both schools but a loss here will make those chances much slimmer… If you would like to see their entire schedule and results to date, click here.
  • Laurens… The Raiders will be hosting the Wildcats of Woodmont HS… Both teams have 2-4 records but the Wildcats are 2-1 in region play while the Raiders are 1-2 in the region… As was the case with Clinton and Mid-Carolina, both Laurens and Woodmont still have chances to make the playoffs but this game will have a lot to do in improving or diminishing those chances…. Cross Country… Yesterday the Red Devil cross country teams traveled Williamston to take part in the Palmetto Invitational meet.

  • Girls Finish 5th… The Lady Red Devil team finished 5th out of 7 girls’ teams that participated in the meet… Woodmont finished first in the meet… The top runner for the Red Devils was Paige Tent who who finished 4th overall with a time of 22:25… Now to find out how the other members of the girls’ track team finished click here….   • Boys Finish 3rd… The boys’ team also did well as they finished 3rd out of 9 teams competing… Eric Newton led the Red Devils finishing 4th overall in a time of 18:41… Now for a photo and to see how his teammates did, click here…. By the way if you click there you will also see that the boy’s JV team finished first in the meet… The top runner for the JVs was Javi Carles who finished 2nd overall with a time of 22:08…There is also more information on how the other JV runners did.

Middle School


  • CMS 7th Grade 8 – Carver 0… back on Wednesday the CMS Wildcat 7th grade football team traveled to Carver MS up in Spartanburg and came home with an 8-0 win… Sorry no scoring details… The team record is now 5-0 on the season.
  • Wright MS 66 – Sanders 8… Also on Wednesday the Sanders MS Yellow Jacket football team traveled over toe Abbeville to take on the Wright MS Wildcats… The Wildcats must have loaded up on bug spray as they took a 66-8 win over the Yellow Jackets… Sanders only score came on a 63 yard run by TyQuavis Johnson.


  • CMS 3 – HT 0… Also back on Wednesday the CMS Wildcat volleyball team traveled to Hickory Tavern to take on the Panthers… Good news for Wildcat fans as they took a 3-0 win… Set scores were 25-15, 25-9 and 25-19… The Wildcats are now 6-2 on the season.
  • Star-Iva 3 – GCO 0… One other middle school match to report to you that also occurred on Wednesday and that involved the GCO Tigers hosing the Star-Iva MS Tigers… The visiting Tigers were just a little too strong for the home Tigers as Star-Iva took a 3-0 win… Set scores were 25-8, 25-7 and 25-16.

  • Dodgers 6 – Braves 0… The Braves and the Dodgers hooked up in game 1 of the best of 5 series out in LA last night and the Braves out hit the Dodgers 6-5 in the game… But the team with the most hits does not always win the game and that was the case last night as the Dodgers took a 6-0 win over the Braves… All of the Braves hits were singles while 3 of the Dodgers 6 hits were homers… Game 2 of the series will be tonight with first pitch scheduled for 9:37 pm… Now if you would like to find out other results from last night and the complete schedule for today (where there are a total of 4 games) click here.

  • The Laurens County Touchdown Club has a full set of meetings scheduled to help celebrate high school football in Laurens County… The Club meets every other Friday at The Ridge with the meetings starting at noon… For more information about the TD Club including schedule, how to join and videos of the past meetings click here… The next meeting will be Friday, October 5th when the featured speaker will be Gary Patterson, ACC Official and Referee.
  • A Team of 1,000” Fundraising Campaign… Laurens District 55 High School (LDHS) with the support of Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) is launching a Team of 1,000 athletic fundraising campaign. LDHS hopes to raise $55,000 to contribute towards the wishes of the athletic programs. Any funds raised will not supplant existing funding from LCSD 55 but we want to enhance the pride and possibilities inherent in our athletic programs… The funds raised will go toward ensuring adequate resources for travel to camps, scrimmages, and other activities that improve student-athlete performance but may stretch the regular season travel budget… The different coaches are compiling a “wish list” of items they would like to see the monies go toward… If you would like you to be a part of our Team of 1,000. Just a $55 gift from each member of our Team of 1,000 will help us reach our goal of $55,000. By donating to the Team of 1,000 fundraising campaign, you are helping the student-athlete experience; you are also joining many others in a commitment to athletic excellence in Laurens….   • Free Softball Clinics on Mondays… Don’t forget that LDHS softball Coach Michaela Smith will conducting free softball clinics for girls in grades 2-6 on Monday nights to help the young ladies in District 55 improve their softball skills and learn the proper fundamentals in a fun environment… Come to the LDHS softball field starting at 7pm and the clinics will conclude about 8:00 pm…. Clinics are scheduled to run each Monday from now through at least the end of October
  • Laurens Family YMCA 2018 – 2019 Sports Schedules… The Laurens Family YMCA has released the schedules for signing up for different sports during the 2018-2019 sports seasons… To see the entire list of sports, ages for participation, sign-up dates, cost and when the season begins click here… If you have any other questions call the Y at 984-2626… Registration will open September 17th for Fall Teeball and Fall Softball… Registration for both will end on October 21st and there will be NO late registration….
