Sports Report for Friday, 10-12-2018

PC Notes

  • Football… The Blue Hose football team returns home tomorrow for a game at Bailey Memorial Stadium where they will be taking on the Hampton University Pirates out of Hampton, VA…. Hampton has a 2-3 record and played Charleston Southern a couple of week ago and lost 48-13… Kickoff is slated for noon and the game can be heard on the PC Network and seen on ESPN+… Live stats can also be found at wwww.gobluehose.com.

Football Tonight:

  • Clinton: The Red Devils will board the bus and travel down to Newberry tonight to take on the Bulldogs… The Bulldogs are 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in region play… Right now there are 4 team in Region III-AAA that are tied for second in the region and both Clinton and Newberry are among those teams with Woodruff and Emerald being the other two… This game will help break that log-jam and both teams want the win… Both reams are coming off wins as the red Devils defeated Mid-Carolina last Friday and the Bulldogs defeated Emerald 46-38 on the road… Good Luck to the Red Devils
  • Laurens Academy: The Crusaders are also on the road tonight as they travel to Blackville to take on the Raiders of Jefferson Davis Academy… Jeff Davis comes into tonight’s game with a 7-1 record and has a team that has more players on its roster than the Crusaders so fatigue might play a factor in the late stages of the game as almost all of the Crusaders play both ways…, Looks like a Davis vs. Goliath scenario and let’s hope the Crusaders have just the right stones to bring down the Raiders.
  • Ware Shoals: After a week off to heal up, the winless Hornets of Ware Shoals will be heading over to Due West to take on their archrival the Dixie Hornets… Dixie comes into the game 5-2 on the season and this looks like another Davis vs. Goliath situation… Good Luck to my Purple Hornets.
  • Laurens: The Laurens Raiders will head up to Greenville tonight to take on the winless Patriots of JL Mann… The fact that they are winless makes this a very dangerous team as the will be going all-out to pick up a win and they are likely to try anything that might not show up on recent video of their games… If the Raiders want to make the playoffs a win here is imperative… We will be bringing the game to you here on Real Radio 860 WLBG and streaming live on the internet at wwww.wlbg.com… We will start out coverage with the Friday Night Insiders program starting after the news break at 6:00 pm and then go live to the press box at JL Mann about 6:36 or so….If you are going to the game, Greenville is a tough place to find a vacant frequency but if you carry your FM radio you should be able to hear our in-stadium transmitter on 87.9, 88.9 or 106.7 on you FM dial… I will have to see which one is best when I get there.

Local Notes… Due to school being out yesterday there are no local results to report.

  • League Championship Teams Set… Well in case you missed it, the four teams still in the running for the MLB Championship have been set… In the American League the Houston Astros defeated the Cleveland Indians in 3 games and will face the Boston Red Sox who defeated the Yankees 3 games to 1… They will not start their best of 7 series until tomorrow night in Boston… In the National League the punched their ticket to the league championship series by beating the Braves 3 game to 1 while the Milwaukie Brewers got there by defeating the Colorado Rockies in 3 straight games… They will start their best of 7 series for the championship tonight in Milwaukie… To see the complete postseason schedule and results, click here.

Any funds raised will not supplant existing funding from LCSD 55 but we want to enhance the pride and possibilities inherent in our athletic programs… The funds raised will go toward ensuring adequate resources for travel to camps, scrimmages, and other activities that improve student-athlete performance but may stretch the regular season travel budget… The different coaches are compiling a “wish list” of items they would like to see the monies go toward… If you would like you to be a part of our Team of 1,000. Just a $55 gift from each member of our Team of 1,000 will help us reach our goal of $55,000.
