Stolen Equipment Valued Almost $ 1 ¼ Million

The theft of almost a quarter-million-dollars-worth of welding equipment from a Hickory Tavern business two months ago was alleged in warrants served by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday. 40-year-old Dwayne Chavous of 201 Mimosa Drive, Greenville was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and Grand Larceny. Investigator Robert Haupfear states that on September 18th the defendant entered a building at 1073 Neely Ferry Road, Gray Court without consent and with intent to commit a crime therein. Chavous is accused of entering the business of 3S International and of taking numerous welding machines and welding equipment valued at $221,385. Dwayne Chavous remained in the Johnson Detention Center overnight, awaiting a bond hearing He is also reportedly being held for Greenville authorities.
