2nd Suspect in Car Wash Burglary

A second person was arrested yesterday in connection with a car wash burglary last year. Laurens Police made the first arrest last Friday, charging 35-year-old Melvin Immanuel Lothridge III of 23 Higgins Drive, Ware Shoals with 2nd Counts of 2nd Degree Burglary and with Possession of Burglary Tools. He was accused of having tools, including a pry bar and a lock pick, in his possession on North Harper Street last Friday. He was also charged with breaking into the Double Bubble car wash at 1507 West Main Street twice last year – September 2nd and December 28th. While a $30,000 bond was set on the Burglary Tools charge, bonds of $80,000 were set on each of the 2nd Degree Burglary warrants. Melvin Immanuel Lotheridge III remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning with cash or surety bonds totaling $190,000.

Yesterday, Laurens Police charged a second suspect in connection with the September 2nd burglary at the Double Bubble car wash. 33-year-old Jennifer Denise Crawford of 2928 Poplar Springs Church Road, Ware Shoals is also charged with Burglary 2nd Degree. A warrant, citing an investigation by Officer J.C. Brewington, states that Ms. Crawford assisted her co-defendant commit the September 2nd theft from the Double Bubble by standing outside the car wash as he burglarized the business at 1507 West Main. Jennifer Denise Crawford remained in the Johnson Detention Center overnight, awaiting a bond hearing.
