Three Fake $10 Bills

A Clinton man was charged yesterday with passing fake $10 bills at a Clinton store, after an overnight arrest on traffic charges.

Laurens County Deputy Sheriff Brandon Howard arrested 34-year-old Donnie William Etters Jr. of 208 Rail Lane, Clinton, issuing a ticket that charged him with Driving under Suspension of his license at midnight Wednesday morning on Rail Lane.

Later yesterday, warrants were served also charging Mr. Etters with Forgery and Breach of Trust at a Clinton Dollar General store Monday. The Forgery warrant states that on December 7th Donnie Etters Jr. knowingly and willfully provided three $10 bills that were counterfeit to the Dollar General for goods, thereby depriving the store of the goods and the money owed for them. A second warrant, charging Breach of Trust, said basically the same thing.

Donnie William Etters Jr. was released later yesterday on posting cash or surety bonds of $15,000 for the Forgery charge, $2,000 for the Breach of Trust warrant and $647.50 for the Driving under Suspension ticket.
