Theft of Building + Firearms Charges

    Laurens Police yesterday charged a man with a Domestic Assault back in November, along with drug charges from yesterday. 42-year-old John Paul Thompson was booked listing an address at 5698 Highway 92, Enoree, but charged with crimes at an address in Laurens.

    Three men were arrested Saturday on charges that included stealing a building. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office charged all three men with Grand Larceny. In those warrants, Deputy Adam Galloway states that each carried away an outdoor storage building Saturday, valued at $2,500. All three men are also facing firearms charges. Each is accused of being in possession of a Glock model 43 handgun, a 9 mm pistol and had possession of a Remington .22 caliber rifle Saturday.

    46-year-old James Henry “Buddy” Patton II, with addresses noted at 7615 Highway 178, Donalds and/or 7153 Indian Mound Road, Laurens, is accused of being a front seat passenger in a vehicle where the Glock was in a pocket on back of a passenger seat. Buddy Patton II remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning with cash or surety bonds on his three charges totaling $11,000.

   Deputy Galloway states that 29-year-old James Lucius “Rooster” Patton of 12 Pineview Drive, Ware Shoals was operating the vehicle where a Glock model 43 handgun was located in a pocket on the back of a passenger seat.

   46-year-old Furman Chadwick Covan of 1023 Brickmill Road, Honea Path is accused of being a back-seat passenger of the motor vehicle, with access to a Glock model 43 handgun that was in a seat pocket directly in front of him.

     “Rooster” Paton and Furman Covan were released this weekend after each posted $11,000 in bonds.

    James Lucius “Rooster” Patton, James Henry “Buddy” Patton II and Furman Chadwick Covan are each accused of being Felons convicted of a Violent Crime who are not allowed to be in possession of firearms or ammunition.
