Five Enter Guilty Pleas

In Laurens County General Sessions Court yesterday, while Judge Don Hocker considered whether a man was capable of standing trial for a 2007 Murder in Laurens County, Judge Griff was in another courtroom of Hillcrest square, hearing pleas from five other defendants.

53-year-old Marlon Enrique Fray of 1383 Remount Road, Charleston pled to Enhanced Forgery, value less than $10,000. Judge Griff sentenced him to 18 months, noting that with time served, the balance was suspended to 24 months on probation. Fray was also ordered to pay restitution.

33-year-old Shaye Alexa Grayson of 124 Martin Street, Laurens pled to Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent. She was sentenced to one day, time served, but a judgement was awarded for the state against Grayson for $10,000. Another case charging Counterfeit Game or Altered Tickets was dismissed.

Cases on three other defendants were handled with some cases dismissed, but guilty pleas were taken and sentences handed down for charges of Reckless Driving, 2nd Offense Driving under the Influence and Assault and Battery 3rd Degree.
