LDHS:  Also last Friday the Laurens Raiders played host to the Easley Green Wave in Region I-AAAAA action.

  • Girls: Easley 42 – Laurens 35… In the first game, the Lady Raiders came out cold in the first quarter and when it was over they trailed 13-3… However they did rebound in the second quarter and when the teams went to the locker rooms at the half the game was ties 18-18… Turnovers and missed opportunities proved to be the downfall of the Raiders in the second half as Easley took a 42-35 win… The Raiders had actually fought back to tie the game 35 all with 2:07 left in the contest but could get no closer as Easley made 5 free throws and one 2-point basket in the end to take the win… Qua Fortson led the Raiders with 9 points all but 2 of them coming in the fourth quarter… Nadia Anderson finished with 7 points, Kenaja Burnside & MK Moore 5 each, Raniya Jackson 4, Ashanti Conway 3 and Hanna Wiles 2… The lady Raiders fall to 5-15 on the season and 1-9 in region play.

  • Girls: LA 42 – WWK 18… In varsity girls’ action, the lady Crusaders took a 42-18 win over the Lady Knights… Neither team had a great offensive showing in the first half as the Crusaders only led 17-8 at the half…Both offenses continued to be sluggish in the third quarter as at its end the Crusaders only led 27-16… However that all changed in the final 8 minutes of play as the Crusaders outscored the Knights 15-2 to cruise to the win… The Crusaders were led by Ruthie Moore’s game-high 17 points… Blair Quarles was also in double-digits with 11 points… Regan Williamson finished with 8 points while Florence Mitchell, Morgan Marlett and Jennifer Wu all chipped in 2 points…The Lady Crusaders are now 19-3 on the season and 7-0 in region play.
