Sports Report for Tuesday, 2-5-2019

PC Notes:

  • WBK: Charleston Southern 63 – PC 55 in OT… Last Saturday the Lady Blue Hose hosted the Buccaneers of Charleston Southern at the Templeton Center… PC trailed by 8 points late in the fourth quarter but rallied to tie the game 55-55 as the quarter ended only to fall in overtime 63-55 as the Bucs hit 8 free throws in overtime while holding PC scoreless… Kacie Hall led PC with a game-high 17 [points… For more information on this game, click here… Presbyterian College falls to 4-16 (2-7 Big South) this season, while Charleston Southern moves to 6-14 (3-6 Big South)…. PC travels to Hampton tonight for a 7:00 pm contest.
  • MBK…. The men’s basketball has been off since last Wednesday and they will not be back in action Thursday when they host the Bulldogs of UNC Ashville in a 7:00 pm contest at the Templeton Center.

Local Notes:

CHS:  The Clinton JV teams hosted the Woodruff Wolverines last night in their final games of the season.

  • Girls: Clinton 34 – Woodruff 23… Sorry no other details… The team finished the season with a great 11-2 season record.
  • Boys: Clinton 34 – Woodruff 31… Sorry no other details… The team winds up with a very respectable 9-7 record on the season.



Wrestling: Rock Hill 62 – Laurens 15… The Raider wrestling team traveled to Rock Hill last Saturday to take on the Bearcats in the first round of the Class-AAAAA Team Playoffs… Rock Hill is a traditionally strong team in wrestling and it appears they are again taking a 62-55 win over the Raiders… Myles Reppart, Wil Pontoon and Cody Emert all took wins over Bearcats on the mats… For more details on this match, click here…  The loss eliminated the Raiders from the playoffs but on Friday and Saturday February 15 & 16th the Raiders will be hosting the Individual Upper State Tournament where Raider wrestlers will be joined by other wrestlers from across the upstate of SC as they try to qualify for the individual, championships in Anderson the following weekend.


Sub-Varsity Basketball… The Raider sub-varsity basketball teams traveled to Anderson last night to take on the TL Hanna Yellow Jackets.

  • JV Girls: TLH 38 – LDHS 13… The Yellow Jackets held the Raiders scoreless in the first quarter and then went on to take the win… Jamya Chappell led the Raiders with 4 points.
  • 9th Grade Boys: TLH 30 – LDHS 27… Sorry no other details.
  • JV Boys: TLH 53 – LDHS 18… Sorry no other details.

  • Joe Adair Outdoor Education Chicken Stew Fundraiser… The Joe Adair Outdoor Education Center will be having its final chicken stew fundraiser for this school year on February 1st… The cost of the stew will be $8:50 per quart… all monies raised will be used for the maintenance and upkeep of the center… The center is used by students in School Districts 55 & 56 from kindergarten to high school… It is also used by community and civic groups…Stew can be preordered by calling the center at 864-984-5492…. The stew will be available for pickup from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on February 1st at the center.


  • Laurens Area Youth Baseball Registration… Registration is now open for youth baseball through the Laurens Family YMCA and the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Department… Ages 3-6 will register at the Laurens YMCS, Ages 7-8 Coaches Pitch as well as 9-10 Minors and 11-12 will register at The Ridge the Laurens Parks and Recreation headquarters… Ages 13-15 will register at the Laurens YMCA…The cost is only $60 and that includes uniforms and insurance … Don’t let this pass you by as registration closed Thursday, February 7th.


  • Clinton YMCA Youth Baseball, Softball & O-Zone Baseball Registration Open… Registration for all levels of baseball including O-Zone baseball and girls’ softball is now open through Tuesday, 2-12-19… For information such as age levels for each type of baseball and softball, cut off dates for determining age, fall-out dates, cost, financial aid information and who to call if you have more questions, see our posting in the Featured Sports section on the right-lower side of our homepage at


  • Hydra Softball Sign Ups… Registration for Hydra Softball will begin February 1st and continue until February 21st for girls ages 6-12 at the Hickory Tavern Park… Registration will be done on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 pm and on Saturdays from 11 am – 2pm… The cost is only $45 per child… If you have questions or want more information contact Nichole Patterson at 864-907-1549 or email her at:


  • Laurens Family YMCA 2018 – 2019 Sports Schedules… The Laurens Family YMCA has released the schedules for signing up for different sports during the 2018-2019 sports seasons… To see the entire list of sports, ages for participation, sign-up dates, cost and when the season begins click here… If you have any other questions call the Y at 984-2626… Registration is now open for youth basketball for ages 3-6… The cost is $40 per child and registration will close 2-6-2019 with the season starting the next day.
