  • Clinton 4 – Southside Christian 2… The Clinton Red Devil varsity baseball team traveled back to Spartanburg yesterday as they continued their participation in the Hub City Classic at Duncan Park… The news is good for Red Devil fans as the team took a 4-2 win over the Sabres… The Red Devils plated 2 runs in the top of the first inning when Kimon Quarles and Noah Reese both led the game off with singles and later scored… The Sabres came back and tied the game in the bottom of the inning… The Red Devils scored what would prove to be the winning run in the top of the third inning when Chance Ewell walked and was later driven in by Kaylin Alexander… They added an insurance run in the top of the fifth (and last) inning when Konnor Richardson walked and was driven in later by Judson Watkins… Kimon Quarles and Jaylin Alexander led the Red Devils at the plate as they each had 2 of the Red Devils 6 hits… Caleb Riddle picked up the complete game win giving up the two earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 3 and walking 1… To see the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 2-26-19-Southside Christian 2-26-19-Southside Christian-SC …. LDHS:  The Laurens Raider baseball team was finally able to get its season started last night as they traveled to Greenville HS to take on the Red Raiders in a doubleheader of baseball.

  • Greenville 8 – Laurens 2… In the first game, a lack of timely hitting and errors hurt the raids as Greenville took an 8-2 win… The Raiders got on the board first in the top first inning as Jalen Bragg had a solo homer in his first at-bat of the season to put the Raiders up 1-0… However, Greenville responded by plating a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game… Laurens retook the lead in the third inning when Tanner Smith reached base on an error and later scored the same way… Again Greenville responded in the bottom of the inning to tie the game… In the bottom of the fourth inning the wheels started coming off the bus for the Raiders as Greenville scored 4 times on one hit with walks, wild pitches and errors hurting the Raiders… Greenville added two more runs in the sixth to make the final 8-2… The Raiders had only 4 hits in the game with no Raider having more than 1 hit and Brag’s solo homer was the highlight of the offense… Tanner Smith took the loss in relief of Erick Jones… To see the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 2-26-19-Gm-1-Greenville…. • Laurens 10 – Greenville 3… Now the news is better for Raider fans where the second game of the doubleheader is concerned as the Raiders took a come from behind 10-3 win over Greenville… Greenville led 3-0 going into the top of the fifth inning when the Raiders finally got in the board when tanner Smith walked and was later driven in on a single by Jalen Bragg… Bragg latter scored on a sacrifice fly by Zak Rice to make it 3-2 Greenville… That was the score going into the top of the seventh inning when the Raiders exploded for 8 runs and then held Greenville scoreless in the bottom of the inning the bottom of the inning to take the 10-3 win… Ironically, the lights at Greenville HS are on a timer and the timer turned the lights off within moments of the Raiders getting the last Greenville batter out… How does that song go? … Turn out the lights the party’s over or something like that…. The Raiders had 10 hits in the game and Aiden Pridgen had 3 of them to lead the Raiders… Jalen Bragg picked up the win in relief of Heath Bragg… To see the game’s box score and some stats, click on the following: 2-26-19-Gm-2-Greenville….
